  3. Years & Years rule the stagepublished at 21:36

    Years and Years

BBC Sound of 2015 winners Years & Years have brought a troupe of dancers with them to help get the party started as they perform synth anthem King.

Like Years & Years singer Olly, we also insist on backing dancers to accompany our BBC Music live blogging activities. For some reason we lack the photographic evidence though, so you'll just have to take our word for it...

  5. British Artist of the Year nominee: Years & Yearspublished at 21:35

Less than a year ago, Years & Years topped the BBC Sound of 2015 list, so you’d expect them to fare fairly well in the charts. And yet, who could have predicted the meteoric rise to the top experienced by the electro-pop trio? In just 12 months, they’ve released banger after banger, and shown their softer side with ballad Eyes Shut. Yep - you heard right, a ballad. Perhaps it’s frontman Olly Alexander’s unique talent for making a slowie cool alone that’s earned the band their first BBC Music Awards nomination.

Picking up the mantle from last year’s winners, indie rock group Catfish and the Bottlemen, this year’s BBC Introducing Artist of the Year Jack Garratt brings a sensitive side to his guitar pedals.

Earlier this year, Jack’s song Worry made Radio 1’s playlist - a huge step for any artist, but he’s been on the BBC radar for some time - his first submission to BBC Introducing was way back in 2009, and he’s been plugging away at his art ever since.

  10. British Artist of the Year nominee: Adelepublished at 21:25

Can the BBC Live Performance of the Year winner make it a double?

Let’s be honest - we probably don’t need to tell you about the phenomenal year Adele has had. Not only did the video for her single Hello become the fastest accumulate over 50 million views in 48 hours on YouTube, but her album 25 become the first UK release to shift nearly 700,000 copies in its first week. In the US, 25 has sold an incredible 3.38 million copies in seven days, breaking Justin Timberlake’s boyband N*SYNC’s previous record, set way back in the year 2000.

The Metro have listed all of Adele’s recent achievements in one place, external, so if those figures haven’t stunned you into submission already, take a look. We guarantee you’ll be at least slightly impressed.
