Let's hope Lindsey Vonn is OK. That's the main thing.

There's a team of medical professionals surrounding her and the stretcher has been brought over.

We can hear her sobbing and it sounds like she's in a considerable bit of pain.

This doesn't look good for Lindsey Vonn.

The American took all the risks to get to the start-line with a torn ACL - nine days after being airlifted to hospital.

But her downhill dream is over.

Oh no, She's gone. She has crashed, she did everything she could, she has gone on the top of the course and the crowd are stunned. She took all of the risks to get her, she proved in the training run that she could get to the starting gate.

Two years ago, having retired for five years, Lindsey Vonn got her partial knee replacement. She makes her World Cup comeback, she received lots of criticism, people think she's too old, that she won't be fast enough.

This season, having combined with a new coach, Aksel Svindal, she is on fire, dominating and consistent in the World Cup.

She tears her ACL, a complete rupture of the left knee, we thought she was going to participate - not gun for glory.

The hope that we thought she was going to start today, is just diminished, now it is about 'can she podium?' Her team are so relaxed, they are happy and they know what they are doing. If she does [podium], it will be the biggest thing sport has ever seen.

To you and I, and everyone watching, it's far too much risk - to jeopardize the rest of your healthy life.

But Lindsey Vonn isn't like us. She is a unique athlete.

Don't forget that for the last 10 years of her life, when she had all those victories, when she was becoming the greatest downhiller of all time, she was in living in pain.

I used to race against Lindsey and when she was walking at the finish, she would hobble. She could throw herself down a mountain but she couldm't walk. She's always had to come back from niggles.

This is not a niggle. This is a huge injury. What she is willing to risk here just shows that mindset.

She will give everything to finish this story.

As a woman one month younger than Lindsey, I say fair play to her.... she's doing us 40-year-old's proud. However, I do think she's crazy for putting her wellbeing at serious risk of life in a wheelchair. But that's the Americans for you. Good luck

No-one can follow the pathway that Lindsey Vonn has done, it is a pathway that is mind-blowing and incredibly inspiring.

Whatever her face is telling us, if she wins or comes down in last place, she is doing something no-one else can do.

Cheers from the Italian crowd as Laura Pirovano crosses the line in one minute 37.04 seconds and moves up to second.

That pushes Austria's Ariane Raedler into the bronze medal place.

The skiers have just not got the confidence to attack the lower end of the course today. They have had training runs but it's different conditions here today, there has been more snow on the slope.

After two training runs, Lindsey Vonn is pulling the pressure off her left leg but she is still fast. She is an iconic superhuman athlete and is risking everything for this. She is putting her life on the line for this moment on Sunday

She knows her body and knows how to come back from her ACL tear. She has stability through her joints.

She was not limping this morning, she is happy to be here. With two training runs going well, something will be ticking saying 'I can do this.'

Breezy Johnson knows that was good. Fingers crossed for her. Brilliant stuff. If you were going to be picky, she did lose a little bit of time in those turns.

What a run by Breezy Johnson!

The world champion slashes a huge 1.10 seconds off Ariane Raedler's time and moves into the gold medal position. That will take some beating.

The American punches the air and she's got a huge smile across her face. She's happy with that.
