The race for the gold medal really is wide open.

Germany's Ramona Hofmeister has just crashed out so it is Zuzana Maderova of the Czech Republic that goes through to the semi-final.

Italy's Lucia Dalmasso has also booked her place in the final four by knocking out Poland's Aleksandra Krol.

A mistake from Ester Ledecka and Sabine Payer had the edge - this is where champions are made. Payer has the experience and she knew she had the edge.

Ester Ledecka had already made plenty of history, but she was going for more today in the women's parallel giant slalom.

The Czech Republic rider became the first woman to win gold medals in two different sports at a Winter Games when she won the snowboard event along with a surprise gold in alpine skiing's Super-G in 2018.

But her dream of wining a third straight title in the parallel giant slalom is over.

Breezy Johnson is a deserved champion and was one of the favourites today after winning the world downhill title last year.

It was a heck of a run she put down today, too.

But you can't help but feel that some of the shine of that gold medal will be taken off for her as she worries about her friend and team-mate Lindsey Vonn.

The 30-year-old is smiling now as she stands atop the podium, she will want to cherish this moment.

Curling - mixed doubles round robin

There was a curling session earlier this morning and Korea beat Estonia 9-3 and Czech Republic overcame Norway 6-3.

Neither of those results effect Team GB, who qualified for the semi-finals on Saturday with two games to spare.

This afternoon's session starts a 13:35 GMT and we will bring you updates of Great Britain's match against Switzerland once it is under way.

In better news for the home nation, reigning world champion Roland Fishchnaller is into the quarter-finals.

Reigning Olympic champion Benjamin Karl of Austria has also progressed through to the final eight.

The celebrations are fairly muted for Breezy Johnson as she wins gold.

Understandably so. She'll be worried about her fellow American and team-mate Lindsey Vonn after that serious crash.

Germany's Emma Aicher wins the silver, while it's another medal for hosts Italy as Sofia Goggia comes third.

Breezy Johnson takes the gold! Let's be honest, with a name like that she deserves it.

The American skier was sixth to go, but her time of one minute and 36.10 seconds could not be beaten. She absolutely stormed down the slope.

Another world champion that has just become an Olympic champion.

Something tells me we're going to be flashing a few medals for Johannes Hosflot Klaebo.

What an unbelievable finish from the Norwegian. He powered through the final ascent like a machine and put in a sprint finish to claim that Olympic title.
