It will be important that the skaters work together because there is a lot of pairs; Belgium, Holland, USA and Canada. They will all be working together to ensure [victory].

It's definitely a faster paced start from the women.

Valerie Maltais has hit the deck. She's up but she's got her work cut out if she's to medal now ...

Even on the formation lap, there was a fair bit of pushing and jostling for position.

Elizaveta Golubeva of Kazakhstan was getting a few dirty looks as she put hands on the racers around her.

It's the last speed skating event of these Games and the crowd are bang-up for it.

The start of the women's halfpipe final has been delayed until 21:00 local time (20:00 GMT).

To show you just how much snow has fallen in Livigno today, this area was where the fans were stood for the ski cross finals earlier this afternoon. It's now covered in a blanket of snow, an inch or two thick.

The snowploughs are parked up near the halfpipe, waiting to spring into action, but with the snow still coming down thick, there's no point at the moment.

I was outside for approximately 10 minutes and have just come back into the press centre looking like a walking snowman.

It's really strange that they actually allowed Bergsma to do this.

They saw him break away, they very much played into the hands of him and it's so surprising.

Gold in the men's mass start ensures this is the Netherlands' most successful Winter Olympics of all time.

They have won nine gold medals, surpassing their previous best total of eight achieved in 2014, 2018 and 2022.

Viktor Hald Thorup trains a lot of the time in Holland and Germany and this is a tremendous silver medal performance.

What a performance from Jorrit Bergsma! He hit the front early doors and you were just waiting for the rest of the pack to catch up - but they never did.

A brilliant silver from Denmark's Viktor Hold Thorup too; after his clever tactics to hang back in the heats, his decision to go with Bergsma has paid dividends.

There are a lot of hands on knees from the rest of the competitors. It looked to me like a lot of them misjudged that race entirely.
