Some of the GB team were out in the arena early, just taking in their surroundings and posing for the odd photo.

Hammy McMillan, as usual, swaggered out a bit behind them, waving to the crowd and swigging an energy drink as he went. Bobby Lammie made a typically low-profile arrival five or 10 minutes after his pals.

So far at these Games, it's been gold or nothing for Team GB; and with a medal guaranteed in the curling, I'm hoping that the trend will continue with another top-step podium place.

Bruce Mouat: The skip or captain, he throws last and dictates the tactics. Calm, thoughtful, but fiercely competitive. Considered by many to be the best player in the world.

Grant Hardie: Mouat's deputy, he will throw third. He's the analytical one in the team and not afraid to speak his mind. Also drank champagne for the entirety of the 13-hour flight home from Beijing after winning silver.

Hammy McMillan: As the lead, he throws first. He's the lively one of the team and one of the best sweepers in the world. Loves a carry on. He and Hardie are cousins.

Bobby Lammie: The quiet one but an "absolute freak of nature physically" according to those who train alongside him. Along with McMillan, he has reinvented the role of the sweeper.

  9. What's happened today so far?published at 16:34 GMT 21 February

It's the penultimate day of the Winter Olympics and here's what's happened today so far:

  10. Women's halfpipe final postponedpublished at 16:32 GMT 21 February

    Katie Falkingham

    We've had a U-turn.

The women's halfpipe final has been postponed until tomorrow, time TBC, because of "persistent heavy snow and the inability to prepare the pipe in a safe and fair condition".

That means we'll have to wait a big longer to find out if Great Britain's Zoe Atkin, the highest-scoring qualifier, will clinch a medal.

Mia Manganello of the USA was pumping her fists like crazy as she crossed the line. I don't think she could quite believe what she just did.

She won bronze by holding off home hero Francesca Lollobrigida on the home straight. The Italian, winner of two golds in Milan, has to settle for fourth here.

    What a win for Groenewoud.

It was good work done by her team mate Bente Kerkhoff. Any time anyone tried to get away, she gave her medal chances up.

The Netherlands’ Marijke Groenewoud won her third mass start world title last year, outsprinting the field. And she just did exactly the same in the Olympic final.

Once Groenewoud hit the front with a lap to go, no-one could go with her. Brilliant.

That is the 53rd speed skating medal the Dutch have won in Olympic history. National dominance like in few other sports.

And it is their record-extending 10th gold of Milan-Cortina 2026.
