He won't need any more motivation as he has a Wimbledon quarter-final to look forward to, but if Arthur Fery does beat Flavio Cobolli on Wednesday then he will jump above Cameron Norrie and become the British number one.

Fery started this tournament at 114th in the world and he is already up to the top 65 in the provisional rankings and will go into the top 40 with another victory.

Who could have seen a British player making the quarter-finals after the start of this fortnight?

Exactly a week ago, 10 of the 11 Britons to play lost on the opening day of the tournament while Jack Draper and Emma Raducanu both had to withdraw because of injury.

But come Wednesday, British hopes will still be alive.

He does not know when he's beaten! Incredible performance, for those of us old enough, memories of Murray coming back from two sets down to Gasquet as a young pup. Bring on Cobolli!

ARTHUR FERY WINS IT TO MOVE INTO THE QUARTER-FINALS.

The 23-year-old, who started this tournament outside the top 100 in the world, wins a five-set thriller for the second round in a row.

He beats former world number three Grigor Dimitrov to move into the last eight. The Bulgarian was two sets to one up and only needed two holds of serve to win, but Fery produces a truly brilliant display of resilience, courage and character.

These are not easy volleys. Both players doing such a good job close to the net, forcing their opponent to play it high.

Dimitrov is sticking in there, he's within touching distance.

Fery has done extremely well using the serve and volley tactic, we haven't seen that much. Trying to keep those legs moving, they will be feeling pretty heavy at this moment.
