As soon as the players start walking back for the change of ends, members of the Court Services team are racing towards them with bags of ice. It seriously is hot out here.

The umpire calls time, but there's a slight delay as someone has taken ill in the crowd.

Paolini is looking a little stressed out there, even though she's in control of this set. Every time she misses a ball, she's getting really animated and looking at her camp.

Alex de Minaur strikes back to create a real buzz inside Court One.

Flavio Cobolli appeared to be building real momentum but the Australian at last finds a way through to show the crowd he’s up for the fight here.

Whenever I have watched Cobolli, he always seems to produce his best tennis when he knows he is in a real fight, so this has set us up very nicely indeed.

    *De Minaur 5-7 2-2 Cobolli

Alex de Minaur comes into the net and gets it all wrong as a backhand goes long, prompting a disappointed shake of the head from the Australian.

It gets worse for him as he mistimes a shot into the net and Flavio Cobolli has break point.

De Minaur holds firm with a strong first serve which Cobolli can't do much with.

  8. Eala breaks backpublished at 14:23 BST 6 July

    Paolini 5-4 Eala*

Alexandra Eala has definitely found her groove - and she breaks back at the crucial moment!

Frustration for Jasmine Paolini as she saves two break points but then gifts a third with an unforced error before compounding it with another. We're back on serve.

Eala's backhand is a real weapon and she used it to power a cross-court winner to bring up her second break-back point.

The 21-year-old mixed things up nicely in that game and now has the chance to get back to 5-5.

  9. De Minaur breaks backpublished at 14:20 BST 6 July

    *De Minaur 5-7 2-2 Cobolli

Flavio Cobolli gets a forehand wrong, before Alex de Minaur's strong forehand brings up three break points.

Two are saved, but De Minaur gets his reward on the third as he lands a difficult volley at the net.

That's just the response the Australian fifth seed would have wanted.

  10. Mertens on course for last eightpublished at 14:18 BST 6 July

    *Bouzkova 4-6 1-3 Mertens

Belgium's Elise Mertens, who beat former champion Elena Rybakina in her previous match, is a set and a break up against Marie Bouzkova on Court Two and is well-placed to secure a quarter-final place in the women's draw.

Mertens, the 25th seed, had trailed 21st seed Bouzkova by an early break in the first set but fought back to win it 6-4.

Every time someone shouts a "Come on Alex", it's met with cries of "Let's go Jasmine."

These two have some loyal fans defending them out here on Centre Court.

  12. 'Cobolli doing well in longer rallies'published at 14:16 BST 6 July

    De Minaur 5-7 1-2 Cobolli*

    Todd Woodbridge
Former Wimbledon doubles champion on BBC Two

Surprisingly to me, Cobolli is doing really well in these longer rallies. I thought he would've faded a bit due to the heat and his previous long match. That fitness that he's gained over the clay-court season is kicking in.

  13. Paolini will serve for the first setpublished at 14:15 BST 6 July

    *Paolini 5-3 Eala

Another shout from Alexandra Eala as she comes in behind a strong forehand and slaps a cross-court winner to hold.

It's over to Jasmine Paolini to try to clinch this first set on her own serve.

  14. Cobolli breakspublished at 14:14 BST 6 July

    De Minaur 5-7 1-2 Cobolli*

Flavio Cobolli outlasts Alex de Minaur in a long rally to secure the break in a game that took almost nine minutes to complete.

The Italian is a set and a break to the good.

An elongated bellow erupts from Jasmine Paolini and she marches back to her chair with a steely look after saving a break-back point and wrapping up the hold with a booming winner down the line.

  16. De Minaur saves more break pointspublished at 14:12 BST 6 July

    *De Minaur 5-7 1-1 Cobolli

Flavio Cobolli finds his range again to send Alex de Minaur scurrying at the back of the court and the Italian has a second chance to break in this game.

But again Cobolli is off target, although by a much smaller margin this time.

Can he do it at the third time of asking? Nope - De Minaur advances to the net and puts away a forehand winner.

Big hold for Jasmine Paolini, secured with a forehand winner, deep into the corner.

She's just a game away from taking the first set but Alexandra Eala has shown enough in the past three games to suggest the 13th seed has got a battle on her hands.

  18. Paolini saves two break pointspublished at 14:09 BST 6 July

    Paolini 4-2 Eala*

Excellent, controlled hitting from Jasmine Paolini to quickly move up 40-15 on serve.

But Alexandra Eala is starting to find some rhythm, striking the ball with more conviction and having got back to deuce, she is in quickly to the net and puts away a volley to earn her first break point.

She attacks a second serve but hammers the backhand into the net.

When Paolini goes long, though, another break back point arrives. Denied again, this time by a superb passing shot from the Italian.

    Back to deuce.

  19. De Minaur saves break pointpublished at 14:08 BST 6 July

    *De Minaur 5-7 1-1 Cobolli

A crucial point at 30-30 in Alex de Minaur's latest service game and a second serve for Flavio Cobolli to attack.

He makes a backhand down the line to earn a break point...

But the backhand is wild on this occasion, landing well wide.

    Deuce.

    *De Minaur 5-7 1-1 Cobolli

    Harry Poole
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

It has been far from perfect tennis from both players, but Flavio Cobolli raised his level when it truly mattered to capture that first set.

The Italian let out a huge roar after winning that marathon exchange to take an important third point for 30-15 on his way to seeing it out.

He ends the first set having won an impressive 87% of points behind his first serve - albeit having only managed to land 43% of his first serves.

Plenty of room for improvement from both men, then, and the onus is on Alex de Minaur to figure out how to unsettle his opponent.
