  1. Zverev nears second set with breakpublished at 16:49 BST 8 July

    Fritz 4-6 4-5 Zverev*

An ace gives Taylor Fritz the perfect start in the game and Alexander Zverev can't return the next serve.

However, a double fault allows Zverev back in. The American then doesn't assert himself in a rally and Zverev punishes him with a forehand winner.

A shot into the net gives Zverev a break point and when Fritz goes long, the German moves within a game of the second set.

That is costly from the sixth seed, who was leading the game 30-0.

Arthur Fery has got to continue to be aggressive here.

When he's had the short ball, he has jumped on it, he has attacked the backhand, he hasn't hesitated and he has kept coming forward.

All you can ask of Flavio Cobolli is to see whether he can come up with something extra special. This tie-break is a huge moment.

    Fery 6-4 6-6 (4-2) Cobolli*

Flavio Cobolli batters a second-serve return into the net and is furious with himself.

With good reason, he's up against it now. Big serve again though gets him back within two.

    *Fritz 4-6 4-4 Zverev

A strong serve from Alexander Zverev forces Taylor Fritz deep and his looped return goes well beyond the baseline.

Fritz is long again in a short rally as the American battles but Zverev's strong serve is difficult to return.

A forehand into the net from the German gives Fritz a point but he holds to 15 with a volley winner.

You don't reach top 10 in the world or a French Open final without showing some nerve, and Flavio Cobolli showed that there.

That was only Arthur Fery's fifth ace of the match. An ideal way to start a tie-break.

Yep, a Fery return goes wide and we're into a breaker, people.

Fery on the defensive but comes so close to what would have been a ridiculous down-the-line winner. 15-30 on the Cobolli serve.

Big big booming serve makes it 30-30. Credit to Cobolli. He puts away a forehand soon after to move within a point of a tie-break.

  14. Fritz fighting hard to holdpublished at 16:41 BST 8 July

    Fritz 4-6 4-3 Zverev*

A couple of errors from Taylor Fritz gives Alexander Zverev a sniff of a break.

But the American responds well with an ace and then a strong serve sets him up for a forehand winner.

Zverev hits back to force deuce but a mishit into the net gives Fritz the advantage and an ace secures the hold.

These are big moments in this second set.

Just looking at the stats, they have both hit a similar number of winners - 17 to Arthur Fery and 16 to Flavio Cobolli.

But when you look at unforced errors, they are racking up for Cobolli - 27 for him and only 11 for Fery. The Brit has been so solid from the back of the court today.

What a forehand winner down the line, Arthur Fery, with hardly any backswing. Instinctive and imaginative.

Oh and Cobolli finds the net next point... 0-30. Massive moments.

  17. 'Wants to test their fitness as well'published at 16:39 BST 8 July

Fery doesn't really run the shot-clock down. It's a bit like Cameron Norrie, wanting to test their opponent's fitness as well.

  18. Fery holds againpublished at 16:38 BST 8 July

    Fery 6-4 6-5 Cobolli*

A fabulous rally to start game 11 of this second set, won by Fery.

The pair then exchange big forehands to share the next couple of points.

An ace and a failed Cobolli drop shot ensure that the Brit will, at the least, take this set to a tie-break.

But can he break the Cobolli serve again to pinch it before that?

  19. Zverev holds easilypublished at 16:38 BST 8 July

    *Fritz 4-6 3-3 Zverev

A wild swat sees Taylor Fritz go wide to give Alexander Zverev the advantage.

A superb sliced effort finds the corner of the court to put the German 40-0 ahead.

Fritz then stretches to return another slice but it goes low into the net as Zverev holds to love.

  20. 'Silenced the crowd with his own roar'published at 16:36 BST 8 July

    *Fery 6-4 5-5 Cobolli

    Andrew Cotter
    Commentator on BBC One

Flavio Cobolli finally wears down the stubborn defence of Arthur Fery! I'm tired watching in the stands, let alone out on court - 23 gruelling shots later.

It was great play from the Italian, who has silenced the crowd with his own roar.
