    Fritz 4-6 4-6 1-4 Zverev*

Some strong serves from Taylor Fritz see him go 30-15 in front but he miscues a forehand to level the game up.

Fritz fires in an ace but Alexander Zverev is not done yet and forces deuce.

When Fritz fails to return in a short rally, it gives Zverev another break point.

Then he secures it with the shot of the day as a backhand winner on Fritz's second serve puts Zverev within touching distance of the semi-finals.

Very poor emotional management from Cobolli. We saw it in the French Open final. He's rushing the points. It's playing right into Fery's hands.

At the fourth time of asking, Arthur Fery breaks! He leads by two sets and a double break in the third.

Flavio Cobolli's forehand was millimetres out.

Surely Fery isn't going to beat the Italian in straight sets for the second time this year? Too early to start dreaming?

"Come on Taylor, sort it out," someone shouts. Not sure that's the most helpful bit of advice for Fritz.

The crowd are trying their best to get behind the American, though. They want more than three sets.

  5. 'As a coach, you're playing a game of chess'published at 17:15 BST 8 July

    *Fritz 4-6 4-6 1-3 Zverev

    Ryan Harrison
Former French Open men's doubles champion on BBC Two

Taylor Fritz's coach just said it doesn't look like he is trying to rip the groundstrokes, but it looks like he replied that he is trying to.

As a coach, you're playing a game of chess during a match. When your player is down a couple of sets, there is obviously going to be high tension so I think he got the message across really well there.

  9. Zverev holds in stylepublished at 17:13 BST 8 July

    *Fritz 4-6 4-6 1-3 Zverev

Alexander Zverev is really putting his foot down now. A strong serve opens the game and Taylor Fritz cannot return it.

A superb ace extends his lead in the game before a sumptuous forehand forces Fritz down low and the ball just about reaches the net.

And even when he looks off balance, the German can turn a forehand mishit over and he holds to love. His service game is almost flawless today.

    Fery 6-4 7-6 (7-4) 2-0 Cobolli*

Flavio Cobolli saves the two break points, the second with a 132mph wide serve, but he's not out of danger yet.

It's just so demoralising when you lose those sort of rallies, especially two in one game, because where does he turn to now Cobolli?

  12. Break points Ferypublished at 17:12 BST 8 July

    Fery 6-4 7-6 (7-4) 2-0 Cobolli*

How has Arthur Fery made that? He hunts down a fairly telegraphed drop shot and undercuts a sliding backhand onto the tramline. Flavio Cobolli can't believe it's landed in - it has, by a few strands of fluff. 0-30.

Cobolli pulls one point back with a venomous forehand but then sends a routine groundstroke long. Deary me. 15-40.

  13. 'Cobolli has to start to press'published at 17:12 BST 8 July

    Fery 6-4 7-6 (7-4) 2-0 Cobolli*

    Todd Woodbridge
Former Wimbledon doubles champion on BBC One

I feel like we are watching Arthur Fery's reactions a lot, but now is the time we should be looking at how Flavio Cobolli absorbs what he hasn't been able to take advantage of. Those break points were a must for him, so will he be able to maintain his level?

Cobolli has to start to press, he can't just sit back and hope because Fery is taking advantage without hesitation.

  14. Zverev breaks in thirdpublished at 17:10 BST 8 July

    Fritz 4-6 4-6 1-2 Zverev*

Nothing is coming easy today for Taylor Fritz. He leads this game 40-15 but again a failure to take control of rallies costs him.

He gets caught moving back to the baseline and Alexander Zverev forces deuce.

Then the German plays some superb shots in a tasty rally and Fritz eventually goes long to give him the advantage and the break point.

Another error from Fritz gives the world number three the game and he can see the finish line now.

  16. 'Fery knows how important this service game is'published at 17:08 BST 8 July

    *Fery 6-4 7-6 (7-4) 1-0 Cobolli

    Tim Henman
Former British number one on BBC One

Arthur Fery has done so brilliantly there!

The first serve percentage has just dropped a little bit in this game but he got into the rally and it was a good use of the drop shot to then get back quickly for the smash.

He knows how important this service game is to consolidate that early break, but he will need some first serves to go in!

    *Fery 6-4 7-6 (7-4) 1-0 Cobolli

Great defence from Flavio Cobolli, at full stretch on his backhand at the net and then spinning almost 360 degrees as he recovers another at the baseline, but Arthur Fery saves another break point.

  20. Zverev holdspublished at 17:05 BST 8 July

    *Fritz 4-6 4-6 1-1 Zverev

Alexander Zverev's forehand really is a thing of beauty today.

The German hits one well to force Taylor Fritz wide and takes control of the game 30-0.

Fritz does respond to get on the board but then a rash forehand goes too long and puts Zverev 40-15 ahead.

A nice forehand smash from Fritz makes it 40-30 but the American fails to punish a poor drop shot from Zverev and the German lobs him to hold to 30.
