    *Fery 2-2 Cobolli

Arthur Fery played consecutive five-set matches to reach the quarter-finals but he's showing no signs of fatigue, rushing from a few paces behind the baseline to retrieve a drop shot and waiting at the net for the putaway winner.

There was too much air from Flavio Cobolli but that doesn't take away from Fery's effort. 0-30.

  2. 'Fery looking very confident and very cool'published at 15:29 BST 8 July

I don't think Arthur Fery is intimidated at all by Flavio Cobolli because he grew up playing in international tournaments against him.

The Brit came out onto Centre Court first and he took the chair that he wanted, so he is looking very confident and very cool in this situation.

  3. 'Backhand where you want to attack Cobolli'published at 15:26 BST 8 July

Fery is not scared to come in. He's got a shorter reply, an old-school sliced backhand. That backhand corner is where you want to attack Cobolli.

  4. Fery holdspublished at 15:26 BST 8 July

    Fery 2-1 Cobolli*

Disappointment for Flavio Cobolli. He did well to drive Arthur Fery from the net back to the baseline and come on the approach himself, but puts a simple forehand into the net. 40-15.

Fery comes into the net again as he completes the hold before striding to his chair.

Linda Noskova, speaking after her quarter-final win over Elise Mertens: "The feelings are incredible. Like never before. This is why I'm playing tennis, for these matches and these courts, it is a truly special feeling."

On if she was nervous: "I was a little bit nervous before the match, I'm not going to lie. Usually when it's really really important for me and I'm kind of putting a bit of pressure on myself, that is when I'm playing my best. When I'm feeling a little nervous it means I care a lot, so I was really enjoying this match."

On if it was frustrating when chances were going and Mertens was digging deep: "For the chances I had, I think I kept cool. I could have been angry at myself for some mistakes I had done but I feel like I did the end of both sets really great and that is what won my match."

On what she expects facing Marta Kostyuk in the semi-final: "A tough one. It will never be easy in these matches. Marta is incredible player. We have had a few matches now and it is going to be a battle."

  7. Cobolli holdspublished at 15:22 BST 8 July

    *Fery 1-1 Cobolli

Flavio Cobolli isn't happy with how his cap is sitting, adjusting it after shanking a forehand for 40-30 and again after completing the hold.

There were a few hefty first serves in there from the Italian, including aces number one and two of the afternoon.

Arthur Fery races into a 40-0 lead but is unable to deploy his trademark serve and volley with Flavio Cobolli struggling to land a return in court.

The Italian seizes a second serve to get a foothold in the next point and shows good control with a drop shot which Fery returns into the tramlines.

A netted backhand from the British number three sets a few hearts racing but he closes out the hold to 30 with a forehand winner.

  10. Zverev aims to end Fritz runpublished at 15:14 BST 8 July

    Fritz v Zverev

French Open champion Alexander Zverev is ready for his first ever Wimbledon quarter-final after a last-16 victory over 13th seed Jiri Lehecka in four sets.

The match did not finish until yesterday after it was halted by the curfew on Monday evening so the German has not had a rest day.

The number two seed was also made to work hard for the victory.

Zverev, 29, lost the third set but did just enough in the fourth to avoid a decider to navigate his way into a first ever Wimbledon quarter-final.

Now in Taylor Fritz he faces a man he has lost to seven times in a row. That will have to change if he is to keep his hopes alive of winning his second major this year.

    Arthur Fery

You won't be surprised to learn there were huge cheers - and a few champagne corks being popped - when Arthur Fery walked out onto Centre Court.

Sure a few more bottles of bubbly will be cracked open if Fery moves into more uncharted territory today.

The Wimbledon lad could become only the fifth British man to reach the SW19 semi-finals in the Open era if he wins.

One of the existing quartet - Tim Henman - is stood doing his BBC TV gig just over Fery's right shoulder as he warms up.

Those who know Arthur Fery best describe someone who possesses an abundance of self-belief.

Fighting back from a set behind in all four wins has only enhanced his confidence, while he also looked at ease emotionally on his Centre Court debut.

Fery used the patriotic crowd to help energise him in the latter stages against Dimitrov and may look to the 15,000 home fans again for inspiration.

"Arthur does not look afraid of any situation," former British number one Kyle Edmund, who reached the Australian Open semi-finals in 2018, told BBC Sport.

"You see the way he conducts himself and the way he walks - it is like he belongs there."

  15. Fery leads head-to-headpublished at 15:10 BST 8 July

    Fery v Cobolli

This is not the first meeting between Arthur Fery and Flavio Cobolli, nor their first meeting this season.

At the Australian Open, qualifier Fery downed 20th seed Cobolli 7-6 (7-1) 6-4 6-1 in the first round to earn his first Grand Slam main draw win away from Wimbledon.

  16. In-form Fritz eyeing second semi-finalpublished at 15:10 BST 8 July

    Fritz v Zverev

American Taylor Fritz is looking to make back-to-back Wimbledon semi-finals.

The sixth seed lost last year to Carlos Alcaraz in the last four so is eager to go one step further this year.

Before that, he must beat world number three and French Open champion Alexander Zverev.

But he has 10 victories over the German and is on a seven-match winning streak against him, including in the recent Halle Open semi-finals.

World number seven Fritz, 28, is in fine form having beaten Dusan Lajovic, Patrick Kypson, Lorenzo Sonego, and Alexander Bublik to get here and has only dropped one set along the way.

Hoping to end Arthur Fery's dream run is Italian Flavio Cobolli.

The ninth seed has brought his best form to the past two slams, reaching the final of the French Open in June before matching last year's career-best run to the quarter-finals at Wimbledon.

Cobolli had to fight to reach the second week of a major for only the third time in his career, requiring four sets to see off Mariano Navone and James Duckworth before recovering from being bageled in the opening set to beat Karen Khachanov in five.

However, the 24-year-old had no such struggles on Monday, downing fifth seed Alex de Minaur in straight sets to book his spot in the last eight.

Cobolli is two wins away from his first grass-court final and his fourth singles final of 2026.

  18. 'Fery has to be smart out there'published at 15:08 BST 8 July

    Fery v Cobolli

    Anne Keothavong
Former British number one on BBC One

A lot has been made of Arthur Fery's height at just 5ft 9in. He doesn't possess the same kind of power as a lot of these other guys on tour, so he has to be smart out there.

There are two ways of taking time off your opponent. The first is with the big power strikes and the second is by using excellent footwork to take the ball early. He does that so well, especially on his second serve returns.

He has been superb. He reads the play well, he likes to transition forwards when he can, and he uses his footwork in attack and defence.

  19. Fritz v Zverev next up on Court Onepublished at 15:07 BST 8 July

    Fritz v Zverev

There is another very interesting men's quarter-final this afternoon.

Obviously all British eyes will be on Arthur Fery's match with Flavio Cobolli on Centre Court.

But over on Court One next, French Open champion and number two seed Alexander Zverev takes on sixth seed Taylor Fritz.

The winner will face Fery or Cobolli in the last four.
