  1. Svitolina makes bright startpublished at 13:22 BST 27 May

    Svitolina 2-0 Quevedo

Just getting under way on Court Philippe-Chatrier is the second-round match between Elina Svitolina and Spanish qualifier Kaitlin Quevedo.

It's already been an eventful tournament for Ukraine's seventh seed Svitolina, who needed a final-set tie-break to edge past Anna Bondar in the first round, and was also courtside to watch the final French Open match of her husband Gael Monfils, who is retiring later this year.

The 31-year-old Svitolina has begun well against Quevedo, breaking in the opening game.

Francesca Jones is the only British player in action in the singles today at Roland Garros, where she will aim to build on her impressive opening-round victory over former French Open semi-finalist Beatriz Haddad Maia.

That was Jones' first-ever win at a Grand Slam, and came just months after the 25-year-old suffered lingering concussion symptoms following a freak gym accident.

"I would say this has been arguably the hardest moment of my career, this year," she said.

Jones, who now meets 27th seed and former Wimbledon quarter-finalist Marie Bouzkova, is currently outside the Top 100 but was as high as 65 earlier this year, and will be hoping for further progress in Paris that will push her back up the rankings.

The pair are the second match on Court 13, and with American Peyton Stearns nearing the finishing line in the first match on that court, we could be seeing Jones quite soon.

The weather has been a big talking point at this year's French Open.

Paris has been sizzling in unseasonably hot weather, with temperatures reaching 34C.

The scorching heat isn't just uncomfortable for the players, it also affects the court conditions, as BBC Sport's tennis reporter Jonathan Jurejko explains.

Here's what four-time French Open winner Iga Swiatek had to say after progressing to the third round with a straight-set win over Sara Bejlek:

"For sure, she has a tricky style of game, so I need to adjust to that. She mixed up the rhythm well, so for sure it wasn't easy."

On partnering with Francisco Roig, who was a member of record 14-time Rafael Nadal's coaching team: "I spent a week in Majorca which is amazing because starting the clay court season there gave me a lot of energy and motivation.

"We speak the same language, and he asks me how I want to play. For sure we practise a little bit differently and I needed to adjust to that but, week by week, I can take more and more from Francis, that's for sure."

On what else she hopes to get out of her time in Paris this year: "This year is more about cuisine, I would say. I have a chef in the evening from Roland Garros. So I would say I'm exploring a little more healthy cuisine.

"Honestly, there are so many places I want to visit in Paris but I'm going to do that after I'm done with tennis."

  6. Swiatek into round threepublished at 13:03 BST 27 May

Third seed Iga Swiatek has already booked her place in the third round after beating Czech left-hander Sara Bejlek 6-2 6-3 on Court Philippe-Chatrier earlier.

It wasn't quite as easy as the scoreline might suggest, however, with the four-time former champion dropping serve four times in the match.

Swiatek famously doesn't like knowing her draw, which might be just as well, given she will face either Jelena Ostapenko or fellow Pole Magda Linette in round three.

Ostapenko has been a real nemesis for Swiatek in the past, winning all six previous matches they have played.

Welcome to day four of the French Open, where the second-round matches are getting under way.

There are lots of big names in action today, including 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic - how will the 39-year-old cope with the unseasonably searing heat?

Britain's only singles competitor today is Fran Jones, who was very emotional after her first-ever Grand Slam win in the first round. She has a tough task against 27th seed Marie Bouzkova.

Australian Open champion Elena Rybakina will be playing on Court Suzanne-Lenglen and Ukraine's seventh seed Elina Svitolina, who came through a three-set thriller in her first round, is also on the day four schedule.
