American McNally earned only her second Wimbledon singles main-draw win when she beat Elena-Gabriella Ruse 7-5 6-3.

Matteo Berrettini, speaking on court after beating Arthur Fils, about the tournament so far: "So happy. The first round was tough for so many reasons. That was such a nice moment to play against a legend [Stan Wawrinka], four sets like that on Court One. It's a match that I'm going to remember for the rest of my life.

"This one was really special. Centre Court - it's been a while since I played here. I'm proud of myself, proud of my team, just a little bit tired.

"I think I played a really high-level match. Arthur [Fils] was playing really well from the baseline and his serve. Arthur is one of the best in the world so I knew I had to play my best to beat him. I found the right energy in the fourth and started to serve better again. I was aggressive, especially in the fourth and I think that's why I got the win.

"It's been a while since I played so many matches in a Slam, there were bad moments. So far my career has been great. There were tough moments at Wimbledon four years ago. I'm here, I'm back, I'm smiling while I'm playing. It's a great honour and privilege to play here."

It was great to see Fils competing, he will be back on this court in the future, no doubt.

It's fair to say that Berrettini deserved this, he took his chances better than Fils did.
