    *Safiullin 6-6 (6-6) Djokovic

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC One

Well that is a point that Novak Djokovic should've clearly won, but you've got to hand it to Roman Safiullin for making him hit that extra ball.

He didn't really do enough with the overhead and it ended up costing him.

  2. Safiullin saves two set pointspublished at 14:43 BST 5 July

Novak Djokovic brings up set point and looks to be in complete control of the point.

But Roman Safiullin hangs in there and Djokovic goes long.

Another set point follows but Safiullin sends down a big second serve to save that as well!

  3. Game and first set - Muchovapublished at 14:41 BST 5 July

    *Muchova 7-5 0-0 Krejcikova

Czech 10th seed Karolina Muchova has just wrapped up a tight first set against Barbora Krejcikova on court two.

Muchova was guaranteed at least a tie-break after leading 6-5, with the first set staying on serve, but she broke her fellow Czech to take control of the match.

  4. 'Absolutely phenomenal serving'published at 14:41 BST 5 July

    Safiullin 6-6 (4-5) Djokovic*

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC One

It has been absolutely phenomenal serving from Roman Safiullin. His first serve percentage is sitting above 90% right now, yet he hasn't won the set yet. He has only missed three first serves.

Novak Djokovic hasn't been too shabby either at 74% in this first set.

  5. Tie-breakpublished at 14:40 BST 5 July

    Safiullin 6-6 (4-5) Djokovic*

Big serve, the ball sits up for the forehand but Roman Safiullin pushes it just wide.

Novak Djokovic has the edge again.

    Pegula 4-6 5-3 Jovic*

    Amy Lofthouse
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

It is toasty on Court One.

Iva Jovic, the sole teenager left in the women’s singles draw, is taking it to fourth seed Jessica Pegula.

Neither player has had much luck on serve so far but Pegula has found her range a bit more on her forehand to move within touching distance of forcing a deciding set.

There is a bit of wind around, maybe that is impacting the return shots coming from both players?

  8. Tie-breakpublished at 14:38 BST 5 July

    Safiullin 6-6 (3-3) Djokovic*

Back on serve in the breaker as Roman Safiullin goes wide with a forehand after being forced wide himself by Novak Djokovic's booming cross-court forehand.

  9. Tie-breakpublished at 14:36 BST 5 July

    *Safiullin 6-6 (2-1) Djokovic

All three points go against the serve and Roman Safiullin hammers a backhand past Novak Djokovic, who had come to the net, and the qualifier has the mini-break.

  10. 'An absolutely huge set for Safiullin'published at 14:35 BST 5 July

    *Safiullin 6-6 Djokovic

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC One

You got to figure this is an absolutely huge set for Roman Safiullin to pull out of the bag, given the opportunities he's had.

It will be far less stress for Novak Djokovic, if he is able to get through this in the tie-break.

Two aces and only one shot required after the serve in the entire game for Novak Djokovic.

    We're headed to a tie-break.

  12. Jovic holdspublished at 14:33 BST 5 July

    *Pegula 4-6 4-3 Jovic

Jessica Pegula has been hitting the mark on serve so far in the second set but don't count Iva Jovic out of it yet.

Down a double break, the American 16th seed works Pegula around the court to claw one break back, before coming through a tough service game to consolidate it.

It's been a strange match this, with both players struggling for momentum.

Just spotted someone dressed as a strawberry, full head gear and all, in the Centre Court crowd.

It’s far too hot for that, but you’ve got to applaud the dedication I suppose.

Why does Djokovic get to play all his matches on Centre Court? Surely it would raise the profile of other lower ranked/unseeded/qualifier players to play on centre court before the end of the tournament.

An effort is made to put the best players and best matches on the show courts, Centre Court and Court One. This can present a challenge when deciding between whether to prioritise higher-ranked players, or those who draw larger audiences.

Tickets are more expensive for the show courts, so price is also taken into consideration when deciding which players go on the higher-profile courts.

  15. Safiullin holds to lovepublished at 14:31 BST 5 July

    Safiullin 6-5 Djokovic*

Whatever it was that Roman Safiullin lost for a couple of games there, he's found it again.

A couple of aces and some much cleaner hitting from the back of the court helps him secure a straightforward hold.

It'll be over to Novak Djokovic to try to force a tie-break after the change of ends.

    John McEnroe

Just when Roman Safiullin appeared to look invincible, he sort of looks like a qualifier once again.

He has failed to find the goods when he has needed to take it to Novak Djokovic.

  17. Djokovic holdspublished at 14:28 BST 5 July

    *Safiullin 5-5 Djokovic

Novak Djokovic will have spotted the drop-off from Roman Safiullin and he's stepped up his game to take advantage.

He holds to 15, we're all-square again and, as Harry mentioned, the momentum is definitely shifting.

As many unforced errors as winners (nine) across the opening nine games by a somewhat out-of-sorts Novak Djokovic.

But he has still managed to force his way back into this first set.

Roman Safiullin has approached this perfectly, really going for his shots and moving Djokovic around the court.

He’s still just one game away from winning a first set against the Serb, but there’s a sense the momentum is shifting now…

  19. 'That wasn't an impressive service game'published at 14:25 BST 5 July

    Safiullin 5-4 Djokovic*

    Tim Henman
Former British number one on BBC One

Roman Safiullin's hitting from the back of the court had been so good until that ninth game. He missed a rallying forehand on the third point and then didn't come in with any conviction to give up two break points.

It is that psychology of coming out with nothing to lose so you play with freedom, but then all of a sudden you have a lead to lose. That wasn't an impressive service game.

Logically, Roman Safiullin shouldn't win this. But you never know, and I hope that either way, he does himself proud. After all, if Cape Verde can push Argentina to their limits... anything's possible!
