You have to maintain the level in a tie-break, but Shintaro Mochizuki obviously came off it there.

He gave away a few cheap points and made a few poor decisions. I bet his mind just started spinning as he got close to maybe sneaking that second set.

If you've never played someone but you've watched them your whole life and you're excited to be out there, you will always play above the level that you would play at on a daily basis.

Then throw in the fact that you are the last game on your debut on Centre Court, with so many people watching, and you lift your game even more.

That's what was happening for Shintaro Mochizuki before this tie-break.

Mochizuki then gets a drop shot at the net all wrong, drawing groans from the crowd, and he's off to a bad start here.

That was a nice moment as the crowd cheered loudly for Shintaro Mochizuki before he served for his last game, and louder still when he hammered down an ace to take it.

Ten games into set two and the qualifier continues to go toe-to-toe with the defending champion. Every so often it appears Jannik Sinner is just getting a little bit impatient in rallies as he looks to get the scoreboard really moving here.

A big celebration as Belinda Bencic gets the hold after saving a couple of double break points.

That's a huge hold.

Jannik Sinner faces some pressure at 0-15 down but finds the gap with a forehand winner as Shintaro Mochizuki comes into the net to level the score.

Sinner doesn't look back from there as he comfortably sees out the hold.

Mochizuki must now serve to stay in the second set.

The Swiss staves off the second when Coco Gauff whips into the net.

It looks like Bencic is starting to target Gauff's forehand now and it pays off when she gets to advantage. But Gauff takes a step behind the baseline and unleashes a wicked forehand winner for deuce.

Belinda Bencic needs to earn a foothold in this set and quickly.

I know I gave the volleying tick to Shintaro Mochizuki being the better net player, but this is where Jannik Sinner has also improved dramatically under the guise of Australia's Darren Cahill.

He has definitely improved his transition and volleying. That point to go 40-30 was impressive.

Following a fifth double fault in this game, Coco Gauff pops up with an ace for advantage.

Gauff finally gets the hold when Belinda Bencic sends long.

The American will be very frustrated with how inconsistent she's been on serve but she is a break up and in control of the opening set.

It's Jannik Sinner to restart play and the defending champion gets the better of two long rallies.

Shintaro Mochizuki fights back with a volley at the net, before Sinner drags a forehand wide.

Some expert play at the net while under pressure from Sinner sees him get to game point and he wraps it up with a forehand winner after a big first serve.

And then it's a 122mph serve to get back to deuce.

The longest rally of the match is wrapped up with a lovely passing shot down the line from Coco Gauff. The American went all in on that one.
