  2. Break points Gauffpublished at 20:47 BST 5 July

    *Bencic 0-1 Gauff

Coco Gauff had to scrap for every point in her first service game - is it going to be the same for Belinda Bencic?

    It appears so.

    Gauff has three break points.

  3. 'It is even games which is fairer to both players'published at 20:46 BST 5 July

    *Sinner 6-3 4-4 Mochizuki

    Todd Woodbridge
Former Wimbledon doubles champion on BBC One

I don't think Shintaro Mochizuki wanted to risk having another long game or two and risk having to come out and serve with the roof open.

It is even games which is fairer to both players as well because nobody is having to come out and chase.

  4. Gauff holdspublished at 20:44 BST 5 July

    *Bencic 0-1 Gauff

Great defence from Coco Gauff. Belinda Bencic struggles to deal with a tricky slice return and puts into the net.

Gauff looks pretty good behind the forehand too. She drags Bencic wide and fires off a winner for advantage.

Bencic is forced behind the baseline by another bruising forehand and gets the hold.

  5. 'Reasonable to do it now'published at 20:43 BST 5 July

    *Sinner 6-3 4-4 Mochizuki

Former British tennis player on BBC One

I have to say it is pretty dim right now courtside. I do think we are right on the edge anyway.

Shintaro Mochizuki did have the momentum, but we are very close to needing the roof closed so that we can get the lights on.

If things went to a tie-break, what would've things looked like then? It wouldn't have been ideal to stop then either. I think it's reasonable to do it now.

  6. Break point Bencicpublished at 20:42 BST 5 July

    Bencic 0-0 Gauff*

Belinda Bencic wanted to receive after winning the coin toss and it appears to be a good call as she starts positively to lead 30-0.

But Coco Gauff comes right back into proceedings with a 120mph ace getting her on level terms.

Bencic will get an early look at break point.

If I was Shintaro Mochizuki, I would've said: 'Play on. You told us it would happen at the end of a set, so let's keep it to that.'

I'm not sure about that decision.

    *Sinner 6-3 4-4 Mochizuki

Shintaro Mochizuki serves just his second ace of the match before getting the better of a rally to secure an important hold.

He faced pressure from Sinner there but stood up well.

There's some discussions going on now about whether the Centre Court roof should be closed, and the decision appears to be yes it will.

There is another thing that doesn't turn up on stats as well; that is heart and soul.

That is what you have to lay out there in these matches, much like Shintaro Mochizuki is doing right now.

I'm sure there is a Mochizuki fan club and I would like to be the first chair!

  12. Gauff holds the edgepublished at 20:36 BST 5 July

    Bencic v Gauff

Coco Gauff holds the edge in her head-to-head with Belinda Bencic - winning five of their previous seven meetings.

The American has come out on top in each of their past three encounters, including a win on the hard court in Miami in March.

They have never met on grass with six of their seven matches taking place on hard courts and the other on clay.

While any player is always vulnerable to a shock on any given day, Jannik Sinner doesn't lose to qualifiers these days.

The Italian has won all six matches he has played against qualifiers at Grand Slams, and has won his past 13 matches against qualifiers at tour-level since 2023.

The stats are heavily weighed against Shintaro Mochizuki but he is receiving a lot of love from the crowd here as he tries to stay with Jannik Sinner.

Each chant for one player is being met with a shout for the other as the crowd are really beginning to get into this at the business end of set two.

  14. Deuce againpublished at 20:36 BST 5 July

    Sinner 6-3 4-3 Mochizuki*

Shintaro Mochizuki has Jannik Sinner stretching all over the place as volleys at the net to save break point.

Mochizuki lets it slip on the next point by missing a shot he should make, but Sinner can't take advantage as a backhand finds the net.

    Mochizuki is hanging in there.

  15. 'It came onto his racquet at the pace he likes'published at 20:34 BST 5 July

    Sinner 6-3 4-3 Mochizuki*

    Todd Woodbridge
Former Wimbledon doubles champion on BBC One

Shintaro Mochizuki's faster second serve actually suited Jannik Sinner there because he is used to more of that speed. It came onto his racquet more at the pace he likes.

Sometimes when there isn't as much pace, you see him miss a couple - or maybe he just has too many options when it is that slow.

I'm kind of liking the battle between the two contrasts.

  16. Break point Sinnerpublished at 20:33 BST 5 July

    Sinner 6-3 4-3 Mochizuki*

Jannik Sinner gestures in frustration as a forehand finds the net but gets another chance at deuce as Shintaro Mochizuki floats a shot behind the baseline.

Sinner then brings up another break point as he continues to apply pressure.

  17. Mochizuki saves break pointpublished at 20:32 BST 5 July

Hubert Hurkacz did his best to continue against Jan-Lennard Struff but injury has got the better of him.

Hurkacz and Struff exchanged breaks early in the fifth set but the Pole opted to call it a day after he was broken again to trail 4-2.

  20. Deucepublished at 20:28 BST 5 July

Jannik Sinner clenches his fist towards his coaching team in celebration as he steps into the court to put a backhand away.

Shintaro Mochizuki fights back though with some good first serves before guiding a backhand winner down the line.

The game goes to deuce when Sinner comes out on top of a short rally.
