The biggest cheer so far. And it's not for Mirra Andreeva or Elina Svitolina.

After missing her first serve, Andreeva whacks a stray ball away and it's brilliantly caught one-handed by a ball kid.

    The crowd loved that.

Elina Svitolina is somebody who has really worked on that forehand side, she is such a beautiful ball striker and everything she brings to the court is more about physicality and athletic ability.

She's added pace and power particularly on that forehand side.

There was no handshake between Mirra Andreeva and Elina Svitolina before the match, and there's unlikely to be one after the match.

Ukraine's Svitolina has been outspoken about her home nation's struggles since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022 and she does not shake Russian opponent's hands before or after matches.

    Svitolina v Andreeva

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

We've got youth and experience up against each other, so that's always interesting.

We've got Mirra Andreeva who is the higher ranked youth player, who has more pressure on her shoulders.

The way that she plays her tennis is like a chess player, she's so intriguing, but she's also added power and aggression.

She can come forward, she can volley, but of course she's up against one of the greatest competitors and fighters.

It has got all the ingredients for a really good clash.

    De Minaur 6-4 6-1 6-1 Bublik

More from Alex de Minaur on his plans for his days off: "I'm going to do my best to sleep in, get a good coffee to start the day. As far as preparation, I have hit enough tennis balls recently so I'm not going to need to do much. A nice easy session, ultimately just relax a little bit and enjoy my time in Melbourne and get ready for an absolute battle in a couple of days time."

  20. 'Excited for a battle with Carlitos'published at 10:00 GMT 25 January

    De Minaur 6-4 6-1 6-1 Bublik

Alex de Minaur, speaking after his straight-set victory over Alexander Bublik: "I knew what I was in for today. Bublik is a hell of a player, he has so much firepower. I lost to him the last couple of times so I made sure I was ready to go from the first point to the last. I was locked in and it was all about neutralising his big groundstrokes and doing my best to get him on the move. It all worked perfectly so I'm super happy."

On getting revenge for losses against Bublik: "I was definitely thinking about the last two matches I played him. He is super dangerous, he can hit winners off anything and take rhythm out of the match and make it as scrappy as possible. I had to be locked in from the first point to the last. A huge mental effort. Onto the quarters so job done.

"The last two matches I have hit the ball extremely well. So I'm super pleased with my level, I am excited for the next one. That's going to be a big one, right? I am going to have to come out all guns blazing and I'm excited for a battle against Carlitos [Carlos Alcaraz]."
