  9. Brit watchpublished at 17:55 BST 29 June

I'll be honest, it's not looking good for British hopes at the moment.

Oliver Tarvet fought back to win the third set against Arthur Rinderknech, but is trailing 6-7 (4-6) 6-7 (4-6) 6-4 3-2* against the French 25th seed.

In the women's singles, Britain's Mimi Xu has lost the first set 6-2 against Australia's Daria Kasatkina, while Hannah Klugman is 3-0 down in the first set against 2024 winner Barbora Krejcikova.

It follows the earlier exits of Britons Cameron Norrie, Harriet Dart, Felix Gill, Mika Stojsavljevic and Max Basing, while Jack Draper withdrew before his first-round match with injury.

Aryna Sabalenka used to get the yips on her serve, and as an opponent you knew that she was going to gift you those free points.

It used to be a liability for her, but now she has made it not only back to neutral but also a real strength of her game.

That's better from Teodora Kostovic! She opens her service game with a double fault but responds with a well-placed kick serve which a sprawling Aryna Sabalenka returns to long.

She's dragged around the court by Sabalenka on the next point but once again responds with spirit, improvising a two-handed backhand volley winner at the net.

But then Sabalenka bludgeons a backhand to earn another break point.

Get Involved - Lack of British wins a worry?published at 17:44 BST 29 June

Linda: Considering there are few countries that play on grass you would think the British players could do better. Already six beaten on first day. Not much to cheer about, is there?

Jason: Probably the least interesting year on record for British hopes in my lifetime. Two possible challengers (Draper and Emma) pull out of the tournament the night before their games and the other potentials get beat day one. Gone are the good old days with Andy Murray and co going deep.

Carl: What an absolute horror show for British tennis the last two days have been. Injuries, and early exits galore. So poor for one of the best-funded tennis set-ups in the world - but not really surprising anymore, I guess.

Paul: World's premier tournament, and the Brits can't get past first round. Hopeless.

We're not 100% sure on the vulnerability of Sabalenka these days.

I think it's more about her beating herself and there's been some question marks over her performances lately. She was always a raw tennis player, a ball-blaster and a big character on court but she's also worked on her game and tried to be more creative and patient.

But lately I've started not to trust her on the back of the court and I'm never quite sure what she's going to do next.
