    Snooker commentator for BBC

If that mistake does cost Vafaei the match it will sum the game up.

He's made brilliant contributions in all three sessions but Wu Yize has been so sharp and has punished almost every single mistake.

    Wu 12-8 Vafaei

Now then, Hossein Vafaei misjudges a snooker escape and hands Wu Yize a chance to win frame and match - if he can clear the table, four remaining reds and all the colours.

He's potted the first couple reds...

    Wu 12-8 Vafaei

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

It's not impossible for Hossein Vafaei to get back in this match.

He will need a bit of help from his opponent, a drop in standard.

The Iranian makes a fine 70 break from that opening but there are still 59 points on the table and the lead is 58...

The players are back out in the other quarter-final - and is Wu Yize pushing the boat out too far in a bid to get over the line?

A very speculative ambitious plant goes awry and Hossein Vafaei is presented with a good chance in frame 20.

    Robertson 10-10 Higgins

    Steve Sutcliffe
BBC Sport at the Crucible Theatre

There was a huge outpouring of emotion in the media room when Neil Robertson went in off potting the green.

Nobody can quite believe what they have seen in the last few moments of the 20th frame.

  9. Higgins accepts the re-giftpublished at 20:34 BST 29 April

    Robertson 10-10 Higgins

Error strewn conclusion to this frame.

Strange decision from John Higgins to go for a risky green and he leaves it up.

But Neil Robertson somehow manages to go in off in the opposite middle after potting it!

It's a gift for the four-time champion and we're back level!

  10. 'Biggest frame of night'published at 20:31 BST 29 April

    Robertson 10-9 Higgins

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

The fact both players have had chances to win this frame just makes it even more important that you're not the one who loses it.

If you win it, you can go to the dressing room and forget all about those missed chances.

Biggest frame of the night so far.

  11. Postpublished at 20:30 BST 29 April

    Robertson 10-9 Higgins

Nope, Higgins cannot get on either of those reds ideally. So a safety - but then Neil Robertson flukes the red from his response!

It's 49-41 in Higgins' favour but Robertson at the table with just the colours remaining...

He misses the blue in attempting to cannon the yellow off the cushion. Anyone's frame - a massive frame right before the interval.

  12. Postpublished at 20:26 BST 29 April

    Robertson 10-9 Higgins

Really positive intent from Neil Robertson, which isn't something you could have said of him for some parts of this match.

Floats in a nice 'shot-to-nothing' red and then takes on, and pots, a very tough brown to middle.

But then two shots later he misses a black off the spot! Drama. John Higgins back at the table but two of the remaining reds are safe so frame still in the balance with the Scot 44-33 up.

    Robertson 10-9 Higgins

    Steve Sutcliffe
BBC Sport at the Crucible Theatre

It looked like an outstanding response from Neil Robertson. He was playing at a good tempo and looked so fluent.

And now John Higgins loses the cue ball. This is why everyone comes to the Crucible. The tension and drama is palpable.

  14. Vafaei sticks in therepublished at 20:19 BST 29 April

    Wu 12-8 Vafaei

Hossein Vafaei takes that second chance he was given, with a frame-clinching 50 break.

He takes this match into its final mini-session as the players depart for their 15-minute interval.

  15. Postpublished at 20:17 BST 29 April

    Robertson 10-9 Higgins

Meanwhile, Neil Robertson crashes a brilliant long red in to start frame 20 - but then misses a similar shot by some way after being unlucky with an attempted split of the pack.

    Chance for John Higgins...

If Neil Robertson can get going, then the Thunder from down under can give the tenacious Higgins a real game tonight and we could end up with a 13-12 decider.....Please

    Wu 12-7 Vafaei

First sign of finishing line-itis for Wu Yize?

He slow-rolls a black off the spot but it stays out off the jaw of the corner pocket.

Hossein Vafaei cannot take full advantage straight away but he has a second bite at the cherry...

'The Thunder from Down Under' took his time about that break, knowing how important it was to halt John Higgins' momentum.

A very patient visit of 73 puts this back-and-forth quarter-final once again in Neil Robertson's favour.

  19. 'Special, absolutely phenomenal'published at 20:07 BST 29 April

    Wu 12-7 Vafaei

    Rob Walker
    Snooker commentator for BBC TV

Wu really is something very, very special.

The way he put that break together was absolutely phenomenal.

It's only his third appearance at the Crucible but he's playing like he's been here for three decades, not three years.

He beat Mark Allen 5-1 in the last major event before coming here, in the quarter-finals in China, so he won't be frightened of Allen if he gets the job done tonight.

  20. Ton puts Wu frame away from semispublished at 20:03 BST 29 April

    Wu 12-7 Vafaei

If he has any nerves about being on the verge of a World Championship semi-final place, Wu Yize is not showing them.

He'd not won a match here before this year - losing in the first round on his two prior visits - but the 10th seed is clearly one of the game's rising stars.

He produces a faultless 135 clearance to move a frame away from a last-four meeting with Mark Allen.
