Of course it was never going to be over in one visit.

The break ends on 53 as John Higgins misses a red he'll feel he really should have potted.

Huge lead though given how safely a lot of balls are positioned.

Every shot a pint of blood in this break.

    The lead up to 48.

  3. Watch: What a clearancepublished at 22:43 BST 29 April

    Robertson 10-12 Higgins

Just watch this nerveless clearance in the last frame from John Higgins.

    Not bad a for a 50-year-old. What a player.

Now movement in the crowd in Higgins' line of shot!

A distraction as someone's phone goes off in the crowd.

    Goodness me, really?

Takes an age to switch it off as well.

But John Higgins takes it in his stride, despite looking annoyed. Pots the pink and takes his break to 28.

Can John Higgins ride the wave of momentum from that frame to victory? He only needs one more frame of course.

Well, he can if Neil Robertson plays terrible safety shots like the one he's just played.

Opened the reds up and handed them to Higgins on a plate. All about composure now. At worst, the 'Wizard' should build a decent lead.

It's incredible because I was just starting to think - after one or two attempts he had went nowhere near - that he was running out of steam in this match.

But wow that yellow was the shot of the night.

    He is one amazing player.

That's why he is called the 'Wizard of Wishaw' - that was an incredible clearance.

  9. Classy clearance puts Higgins on brinkpublished at 22:30 BST 29 April

    Robertson 10-12 Higgins

Considering what went before it - that is an unreal clearance from John Higgins.

He's on the verge of yet another World Championship semi-final, just a frame away.

  10. Postpublished at 22:28 BST 29 April

    Robertson 10-11 Higgins

More drama as Neil Robertson's poor safety leaves a long straight red over the pocket - but so much distance between the balls and the cue ball is not far off the cushion.

Higgins pots it, and gets on the blue - and then a simply stunning shot with the rest on the yellow.

Can he keep calm and clear up??

Developing into a very cagey game. I feel the advantage is with John Higgins with his longer experience and tactical nous.

    Simon, Torquay

Talk about war of attrition! Both these greats are having to battle so hard, just to try and get anything going. It isn't free flowing, but it's certainly fascinating. If John wins this frame, you feel he will get over the line. If Neil does... Strap in!

    Dan, Manchester

I thought the first session was just a blip! I enjoyed a recent dental implant more than this. Neil and John both playing like frightened debutants. Who'd' have thought it...

Neil Robertson has a GOLDEN chance to wrap the frame up but misses a red to middle that he might have nightmares about tonight depending how this match ends up.

    Robertson 10-11 Higgins

OK, Neil Robertson gets all the reds open, eventually, after a fine long pot.

That allows him to make a break of 24 - which, in a frame like this, must feel like a century.

But only a safety off the final red - John Higgins is 32 points adrift but there are still 35 on...

What a shot Neil Robertson, take a bow.

He's forcing the issue as Martin (22:15) suggested - but in a good way.

Decides to use the yellow hanging over the middle pocket as a conduit - smashing a red off the bottom cushion and in off the yellow. Genius.

On the black too. Although the other reds still need some developing.

That unlucky in-off for Neil in the previous frame is looking like an increasingly pivotal moment. He is suddenly getting a bit impatient and error-prone and appears to be trying to force the issue a little too much. Like he can feel the match is starting to slip away.

There is so much time in between pots and the frame is so unorthodox, there's no flow for either players.

So when you get left a pot it's so tough to find the potting angle.

John Higgins somehow over-cuts an incredibly thin red to middle... then an in-off next shot and we're all level at 26 points apiece. All five reds safe, no easy solution or fix to this... gonna be a long frame...

The media room is still pretty busy. There was an expectation that this match could end up being a long and drawn out affair and it has lived up to that billing so far at nine hours, six minutes and counting.

For context Wu Yize defeated Hossein Vafaei in under six hours.

Another ill-judged safety from Higgins gifts Neil Robertson an easy red.

He plays the pink to follow with a ton of side to try to get position - but falls inches shy and looks up to the heavens in frustration.

They're all huge frames - but if Neil Robertson was to lose this, he'd have to win the final three frames.

Some very good safety play going on at the moment.

John Higgins goes in off a safety attempt just to ensure the commentator's curse continues to live on but the reds are still positioned badly so all Robertson can do is play safe, 26-15 behind...
