He's having to fight with his frustrations at the minute, John.

Every single shot seems to be awkward.

  2. Postpublished at 21:59 BST 29 April

    Robertson 10-11 Higgins

John Higgins can't immediately capitalise but plays a clever safety that forces Neil Robertson into a swerving attempt at a pot that goes wrong.

The balls are awfully positioned though and nothing is easy. Next to no chance of either player creating a frame-winning clearance chance.

    Robertson 10-11 Higgins

Neil Robertson thumps in a long red and while he's not on a colour, he's able to put John Higgins in a pretty nasty snooker behind the green right near the jaws of the top corner pocket.

Plenty reds to aim for... he hits one at the second attempt but has left a chance for the Australian.

He goes all guns for it - but misses and the reds fly everywhere.

    Robertson 10-11 Higgins

John Higgins solves the dilemma by cutting in an excellent red and getting perfectly on the brown.

Does the same with the next red and black. Still a tough table to make a sizeable break from though - and so it proves as the Scot misses a red to middle 14-8 ahead.

Scrappy start to the latest frame in this heavyweight tussle.

Blue and pink have gone safe up in the top half of the table and most of the reds are clustered together.

  6. 'Feel I can do anything now'published at 21:43 BST 29 April

    Result: Wu 13-8 Vafaei

Maiden Crucible semi-finalist Wu Yize to BBC Sport:

"The last session I finally found my rhythm which I'm really happy about.

"It's going to be my first time playing the one-table session so I feel I can do anything now."

Bit of reaction from the other quarter-final to finish tonight, with China's Wu Yize beating Iran's Hossein Vafaei 13-8.

Vafaei told BBC Sport: "The guy was potting from everywhere - I lost four or five frames out of nowhere.

"From shot-to-nothing he was potting them and making 60, 70 easily - it was tough, what else can I say? I didn't do much wrong.

"My opponent was playing very well, it was like playing against a Playstation you know? You are thinking, where can I put the cue ball?

"My cue ball control wasn't good today, every time I was landing wrong position - I didn't play well at all in this match but my opponent played very well and congrats to him, whoever beats me like that I have to clap for him."

  8. Higgins hits the front for only second timepublished at 21:34 BST 29 April

    Robertson 10-11 Higgins

That's the end of that - John Higgins floats in a nice red to finish that frame off once and for all.

The four-time leads for the first time since... do you know when?

The opening frame of the match. From 1-0 up he's been level or behind ever since - including 6-3 and 9-6 down.

'Warrior of Wishaw' as much as the 'Wizard'.

Maybe if Neil Robertson started using Triangle Chalk, he’d stop going in off

    Rob, Nottingham

Ah yes, a clever little plot call-back to this little grumble Robbo had about Ronnie O'Sullivan's chalk preferences...

    Robertson 10-10 Higgins

The 'Thunder from Down Under' needs three snookers but he's making a valiant fist of it.

John Higgins has to pull out a very accurate swerve to avoid giving away a foul.

Then a two-cushion escape on the final red to frustrate Robertson further - 66-22 with just 35 points on.

  11. Postpublished at 21:23 BST 29 April

    Robertson 10-10 Higgins

John Higgins has negotiated this tricky table very well indeed.

Picking off the reds - many of which were near cushions - one by one and now Neil Robertson requires snookers.

The cue ball will have to do some work if John is to win the frame at this visit.

  13. In off for Robertsonpublished at 21:17 BST 29 April

    Robertson 10-10 Higgins

    Goodness me.

A Robertson error gives Higgins a chance of a long pot which he butchers badly.

But then, when the Aussie cuts a red in, the cue ball flies around the table, off a colour and in to the green pocket! Foul and another huge opportunity for Higgins who is 25-14 ahead...

  14. Postpublished at 21:14 BST 29 April

    Robertson 10-10 Higgins

There was a lengthy safety battle at the start of this frame - as there has been very often in this match, certainly in the opening two sessions.

This evening's first mini-session was a bit more free-flowing but with the finishing line nearing, caution is back at the top of the agenda.

    Hence another tactical exchange ongoing...

    Draw

Just the one spot left to fill.

But we're nowhere nearer knowing who is going to face Shaun Murphy in a clash of former Crucible champions.

Best of five frames now. And you fancy it could go the distance.

Even the greats can feel the pressure.

John Higgins gets in with a fabulous red, with the cue ball dead on the cushion, but then minutes later somehow misses a pink he'd get 999 times out of 1,000.

His break was only 21 so not much of a deficit for Neil Robertson to turn around. Big chance for the Aussie - but he runs out of position after 14.

We're approaching shredsville as Jimmy White says.

Meanwhile, we've been back under way on the other table a few minutes now.

And while Neil Robertson has been in front for much of this match, the stats suggest John Higgins has been comfortably the superior player.

    Wu 13-8 Vafaei

    Joe Perry
Former World Championship semi-finalist on BBC Two

He hasn't come from nowhere, we've known about him for a long time, but in terms of the majors, he's sort of emerged.

He plays with such wonderful elegance and style and calmness. He's great to watch, a great shot-maker, an incredible scorer and he's so humble, he really is.

  19. 'Fearless and brilliant'published at 20:57 BST 29 April

    Result: Wu 13-8 Vafaei

We don't often get much emotion from him but a fist pump and a look up to his father.

All credit to Hossein Vafaei who has made a brilliant contribution to this year's championship.

But Wu Yize was on another level and gets a standing ovation from the crowd - he's fearless and he's brilliant.

    What composure.

Wu Yize balls up his fists in celebration after a superb clearance.

That foul from Hossein Vafaei opened the door for him - and he absolutely bludgeoned through it.

A fantastic finish to cap a delicious display from the Chinese 22-year-old who will now face Mark Allen in the semi-finals tomorrow.

He hadn't won a game at the Crucible before this year's tournament - neither had Luca Brecel three years back when he went on to lift the title, can Wu do the same?
