Murphy 13-14 Wu
Murphy scores 43 points after that Wu miss but then has to leave the cue ball on the baulk cushion, maybe a bit frustrated that he could not wrap up the frame in one visit, 43-26.

Not in this go. Wu gets to 26 but misses the pot on the red and leaves it hanging over the pocket. An unexpected chance for Murphy.

A stunning long red gets Wu going in frame 28. Can he instantly restore his two-frame advantage?

Shaun has been in that era of that class of 92 - the O'Sullivans, Selbys, Higgins and Williams, so he’s probably been in the toughest era to win one of these things [titles]. I think you just have to play your game, and to your strengths. You feel the pressure as you feel it when you get out there, so you just have to play your snooker.

Shaun Murphy walked into the arena like a gladiator ready to do battle but was then pretty much confined to his seat by the excellence of Wu Yize in the first frame this evening.
But what a response and what a contest we have in store.

No matter what happens in the snooker tonight I'm sure Stephen Hendry will be a happy man after the football result.

Hearts, the club Hendry follows, have just beaten Rangers 2-1 in the Scottish Premiership to go three points clear of Celtic at the top of the table.

What a start to the evening session. Wu Yize made a break of 88 in the previous frame and that has been followed with a break of 82 from Shaun Murphy to end his losing run of four successive frames.
Enjoying this? You should be. Great stuff.

You're looking at the new world champion and he will be a definite 4-5 time champion, Wu Yize! He's phenomenal.

I was talking to Ronnie O'Sullivan in the practice room right at the start of the tournament and Wu Yize was practising on the other table. Ronnie looked at me, winked, and said he’s going to be a world champion.
I don’t know if he meant in the next fortnight but that could happen, but he had been absolutely adamant that he had seen enough and Wu Yize was definitely going to win this championship at some point. It could be today.

In between frames, Stephen Hendry was asked about the time he met a young Wu Yize...

If you win a World Championship you usually look back and say 'that was my bad session but I recovered from it'. Maybe that was Wu's bad session.
All the best players rise to the occasion. Expect some superhuman performances.

Wu Yize misses a red into the middle, but doesn't leave anything on, getting a bit fortunate.

I said at the end of the afternoon session, even though there was a break tonight, he regained the momentum and he has just carried it on. He’s been aided by a poor safety shot from Shaun, but what a difference he’s started this session, absolutely bang on it straight away.
Murphy 12-14 Wu (1-88, Wu 88)
If there were any nerves from Wu Yize, he doesn't show it as he makes a frame-winning break of 88 to move two frames ahead.
It is an excellent break, with the black ball unavailable as it was tight on the top cushion.
Wu lost the first five frames today, he's won the next four.

We were in the studio watching the first session and in the first five frames he [Wu Yize], was at sea, but his composure and resistance to come back for those last three frames was so impressive.
A lot of players can play, a lot of players can make breaks, but can you play in adversity? That’s what separates the best.

I was just about to sit my SATs at primary school the last time Shaun Murphy was world champion. Time flies!

Murphy 12-13 Wu
Shaun Murphy gets the first red of the evening session, but there's nothing on so has to go safe. Later on, the cue ball gets a bump off the middle pocket from a Murphy safety and that leaves Wu is a great position to make the first sizeable break of tonight's play.
