    Murphy 7-10 Wu

Live-text commentator's curse. I said it was a frame-winning chance for Wu and seconds later he misses a blue into the green pocket. Murphy has an opportunity he may not have expected, 2-37.

After that missed black at 2-0, Wu is progressing along nicely and has moved up to 37. He just had a bit of danger having to bridge over the pink, but then rolled the red into the middle. Frame-winning chance.

I think it would be nice to have a Ryder Cup style match between the UK and China - called the Virgo Cup. Could be such a great event!

It will be interesting to see how Shaun starts this session because he is such an attacking player himself, but for the first couple of frames might he change that attacking style for a few safety shots depending on how he feels.

We are in for a treat once more. Shaun Murphy needs to win this session. If he can draw the session 4-4 it will give him a fighting chance but if Wu Yize can somehow win this session, Shaun will have a lot to do tonight.

    Murphy 7-10 Wu

Wu misses a long red and Shaun comes to the table with a 1-0 lead and a chance to massively build on that.

But, just as I write that, he pots one red and then misses the next black to give Wu the table.

I think Shaun Murphy has got to win this session. Four-four is not good to him because Wu will have kept his lead then, so he has to win this session.

What he has to find is a session like Zhao Xintong and against John Higgins where he was at his absolute best because I don’t think he is going to get a lot of help.

It has been of the best championships we've had in recent years. There have been so many great matches, dramatic finishes, even Shaun he was one ball away from going out - it has been brilliant.

Wu is so attacking, so open with these wonderful long pots, he has just relished playing here - he loves this stage and he has embraced it.

This place tests everything about you, about your composure, about your skill factor. The Crucible does things to you that no other venue does in the world. Can Wu hold himself together? We will see...

  9. A second Chinese winner in a row?published at 13:07 BST 4 May

Wu Yize is aiming to become the second-youngest world snooker champion in the Crucible era.

Only Stephen Hendry, who was 21 when he won the first of his seven titles in 1990, would be a younger world champion than the 22-year-old from China.

Wu is hoping to be the second Chinese world champion - and the second in two years - after Zhao Xintong's success last year.

    Fans outside the Crucible

There are plenty of excited fans outside the Crucible and Adrian and Tracy Howells are among them.

They have decided to forgo Coventry City's promotion parade to be in Sheffield to watch Shaun Murphy attempt to fight back against Wu Yize.

"It's the first time we've been this year although we have come to Crucible previously," said Adrian.

"I think it'll be quite close really, I just hope it stays as exciting as it has been with each player attacking. Wu might possibly shade it but I would like to see Shaun really dig in. It's been exciting snooker, Shaun has said this would mean so much to him with it being 21 years."

Wu Yize opened up a 10-7 lead over Shaun Murphy in the World Championship final to put himself on course to become the second-youngest player to be crowned a Crucible champion.

The 22-year-old is three months younger than Murphy was at the time of his only world title to date in 2005 and would sit only behind Stephen Hendry, who was 21 when he triumphed for the first time in 1990.

If Wu can hold off the Englishman today, he would also follow in Zhao Xintong's footsteps to become the second successive winner from China.

Catch up with Sunday's first two sessions in Steve Sutcliffe's report.

    Murphy 7-10 Wu

Wu Yize took a degree of control of the World Snooker Championship final yesterday and will resume with a 10-7 lead when today's third session against Shaun Murphy gets under way.

Wu has thrilled us all with his attacking style and potting ability, but Murphy is more than capable of stringing a run of frames together in quick succession so this final is far from over.

Eight frames will be played this afternoon and a possible 10 more from 19:00 BST.
