What a competitor - Mark Selby's long game today has been less than 25%, he's presented with a long red in the heat of battle and it's absolutely stunned to perfection straight in the middle of the pocket.
That last frame was typical Selby - top, top-class matchplay.
Trump 7-9 Selby
Defending UK champ Judd Trump has not won a World Snooker Tour event this year.
He needs to win three successive frames to end that drought.
Mark Selby has not won a Triple Crown title in four years - and he hasn't won this tournament in nine years.
He requires one frame to put that stat right.

He dug deep there - you would expect him to, it's one of his strengths.
But he still has to get that last frame and the way it's gone today you wonder if there's another twist in the tale.
Trump 7-9 Selby
An excellent 77, in the circumstances, moves Mark Selby one frame away from a third UK title and a 10th Triple Crown triumph.
Trump 7-8 Selby
Mark Selby is unfortunate that an attempt to break into the remaining pack leaves nothing easy - but, under pressure, he produces a brilliant pot with the rest.
Frame-winning shot.
Trump 7-8 Selby
The pack is positioned such that every time Selby pots a red, he frees up another.
That's helped him get this visit up to 40.

You would think the easy shots he's missed tonight he will be putting 100% focus on every shot - he's had enough lessons.
Trump 7-8 Selby
Selby, though, crunches in a fine red to earn himself another opportunity among the balls...
Trump 7-8 Selby
Right after I typed that Trump was in control tactically, Selby produced a brilliant safety to force an error from the world number one.
But the four-time world champion can only make 11 from it - which is the story of his evening for the most part.

Saw Selby at our local club the week before he made his Crucible debut. Played 10 frames and made eight centuries and two 80's. I think he beat John Higgins in the first round 10-6.

Cagey start to frame 16, Judd Trump in command of the safety battle but Mark Selby fighting fire with fire.

It is the most remarkable game, snooker, isn't it.
You're 5-0 down, sitting in the chair and looks like he's completely bereft of anything.
All of a sudden come this evening he's started to win - Mark's missing balls all over the place.
This is the first time I think he's got an absolute genuine belief he can win from here - he's been hanging on to his coattails all day but now he's starting to hit the ball properly.

This would be an awful defeat from Mark Selby's perspective, from 5-0.

Goodness me. If you’re in Judd’s corner you don’t tell him [referee Olivier Marteel] it was a free ball, and if you’re in Mark’s corner you don’t tell him it’s a free ball. I’m not sure either will be able to avoid it one way or another.
Trump 7-8 Selby
He gets on the red, pots it and the black - 31 ahead with 27 on and a safety shot to follow.
Mark Selby needs a snooker to prevent Judd Trump pulling back within one frame...
Oh and he's left the yellow... Judd gets it but misses the green. Two snookers needed now... oh never mind Trump with an outrageous double on the green and it's 8-7!
Trump 6-8 Selby
Of the two players, while not totally error-free, Judd Trump looks by far the more comfortable and confident right now.
The break up to 40, the lead 16 points - the key shot is black to develop the final red near the cushion...

Final-frame decider anyone? Decided on the final black? That would be entertaining.

Trump 6-8 Selby
Mark Selby holds his head in his hands after missing a black off the spot on 25.
That's a bad miss - and he knows it.

Judd has definitely decided to go all-out attack - that red he went for, he just got down and played it, there was no thought about it.
And the fact Judd is being that aggressive means we could be in for an exciting final few frames of this match.
