    Trump 0-3 Selby

He should have won this frame in one visit, Stephen.

But he hasn't - runs out of position on frame-ball red, goes for a tricky one in the middle and leaves it.

I mean he's knocked in a break of 68 before that - but this is a real chance for Selby to pinch it with a clearance.

  2. 'Trump has to win frames in one visit'published at 14:38 GMT 7 December 2025

It's the savage nature of snooker that you can do nothing about it when you're in your chair.

Judd has to get in early and win frames in one visit - at the moment it's the only way you can see him winning a frame.

Selby walked out shaking his head, talking to himself because he missed the yellow for a century - that's the sign of someone at the top of their game, disappointed with any little thing.

This is more like it and this is exactly what he needed.

Plenty of loose reds so he doesn't have to play into the pack.

    Trump is past 50 already...

    Now then.

For once, Mark Selby pushes the boat out a tad - a long red missing and leaving Judd Trump a chance to settle.

This is arguably the best chance he's had in this final.

I’m not sure we’ve ever had a whitewash in a major final but Judd needs to be careful here, Selby is playing in the form of his life.

What do you do when you feel like you're up against the Terminator?

He's a different type of relentless, it must be so hard to play against.

Can you believe it? Phone the police - Mark Selby has missed a pot.

    Media caption,

Mark Selby misses the pot, but claims the third frame.

Groans of disappointment from the Barbican crowd as, on 97, Mark Selby jaws the yellow.

No century - but a three-frame lead nonetheless. He still looks disgusted with himself though! Perfectionist!

  9. Postpublished at 14:27 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 0-2 Selby

Bit of a rub of fortune for Mark Selby - he wasn't sure where the cue ball would go after a cannon off a red but it nudges the pink right over the middle pocket for an easy colour.

Frame over now. Can he make a century is the only remaining question?

Judd Trump went for that extravagant plant and it could be very, very costly.

It's almost like he's trying to open things up, not get sucked in but Mark Selby will just pick you off if you start playing shots like that.

You can't lose patience with this man, he's playing too well.

    Trump 0-2 Selby

Is Judd Trump getting frustrated? Misses a speculative plant on a red by some way and it clatters into the pack and leaves Mark Selby an easy opener.

He follows that by stroking in a very tough pink with hampered bridging.

After another testing couple of pots are negotiated, he's in prime position to make another break of significance here.

  13. 'The most underrated player'published at 14:18 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 0-2 Selby

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC One

There are certain types who have watched snooker in the past that think Mark Selby is for some reason a player who destroys players by boring them.

You couldn't get any further from the truth - this guy is an absolute monster at the table.

He's the most underrated player, by some members of the snooker public.

  14. 'Virtually unplayable'published at 14:17 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 0-2 Selby

    Steve Sutcliffe
    BBC Sport at York Barbican

When Mark Selby plays like this he is virtually unplayable.

Selby has been in good spirits thoughout this week and was laughing and joking with journalists when he popped in to do a promotional video with World Snooker the other day.

With the Masters draw coming up at the mid-session interval, he would be a name to avoid.

  15. Selby 'playing perfect snooker'published at 14:16 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 0-2 Selby

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC One

Mark Selby is just playing perfect snooker - when he's at his best he's unplayable.

It's only 2-0 but Judd Trump is going to have to play some to get back into this final because at the moment, the way Selby is playing, he's just impossible to play against - because he's got every part of the game to the highest level.

The last two breaks he's made, they weren't really on but he's still pretty much cleared the table and we've seen unbelievable safety.

How do you play against that? He's got every shot that there is to play.

    Such superb judgement of pace.

  18. Selby doubles his leadpublished at 14:08 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 0-2 Selby

Mark Selby's tactical nous coming to the fore here.

He's put Judd Trump in increasing amounts of trouble with each safety or snooker.

Trump escapes a snooker but leaves the yellow up and it's 2-0 Selby.

  19. Big battle on colours to comepublished at 14:04 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 0-1 Selby

Another outrageous shot from Mark Selby to develop the final red off a cushion in potting the black and leaving it right over the pocket.

But he can't do the same with the yellow on the baulk cushion so the break will end on 51, with a 22-point lead - but still 27 left on.

Big battle on the colours upcoming.

  20. Postpublished at 14:02 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 0-1 Selby

Another masterclass here from Mark Selby in terms of tidying up a very messy table. Get him round at Christmas.

Two reds left and he's wiped out Judd Trump's 30-point lead.

You wouldn't bet against another clearance for the ages...
