Has there ever been a tournament with so many close and tense matches? It’s been unbelievable and both semi-finals have been a joy to watch.

    Wu 15-16 Allen

Mark Allen attempts to pick off a red from the pack into the corner pocket, but it rattles the jaws. Slim pickings for the Northern Irishman, but things are far from straightforward for Wu Yize.

Wu Yize might just need a couple more years of experience to deal with scrappy situations with the same proficiency as Mark Allen. Just imagine how formidable he would be then...

I think this is the highest quality of snooker I've seen in my 40 years of watching snooker

    Wu 15-16 Allen

Painful for Wu Yize, who misses a red into the corner with the rest. A break of 52 and he has to reluctantly go back to his seat.

    Wu 15-16 Allen

Buccaneering snooker from Wu Yize as he hammers in another long pot down the table into the corner before cutting the blue in back up the table.

He amasses a break of 15 and counting with the black now in play.

  9. Re-rackpublished at 22:39 BST 2 May

    Wu 15-16 Allen

With a red stranded near the top-left corner, and the white right on it, the referee offers up a re-rack and it's accepted by both players.

I know Mark Allen works very hard on the mental side, he's still showing no emotion.

You can actually see his cheeks are quite rosy there, it's to be expected.

He'd have bit somebody's hand to be in this position at the start of this match, so back to the process and get on with the job in hand.

What a clearance from Wu Yize.

You find out about yourself here and that's a big statement.

He's going to win the World Championship at some stage, playing snooker like that.

  12. Wu pulls one backpublished at 22:32 BST 2 May

    Wu 15-16 Allen

A back-to-the-wall break of 67 from Wi Yize sees him cut the deficit to one frame.

    Tremendous heart from the youngster.

Mark Allen is an absolute machine and an incredible snooker player. Wu Yize will have to go some to pull this back, but I suppose nothing is improbable with his style of snooker

    Jack, London.

Wu Yize is still nailing the long pots. He's done it in an uncompromising way, he's walked the tightrope.

    Wu 14-16 Allen

Wu Yize gambles on the blue to cannon two reds stuck together into the cushion which allows him to position for a pot.

The 22-year-old from China proceeds with a break of 48 to move beyond Mark Allen's total of 45. He looks a good bet to sew up this frame.

Wu reminds me of a young Alex Higgins.

    Wu 14-16 Allen

The table thuds as Wu Yize thumps in a red and screws back from a difficult position to get on to the black.

He follows it up later with a pressure pink.

A break of 34 with three reds left on the table but they are not ideally placed.

    Wu 14-16 Allen

Bold snooker from Mark Allen. He pots the blue in the middle pocket and the cue ball smashes into the pack to open up the frame.

Allen has a break of 45 but then misses a red into the middle.

The door is ajar for Wu Yize...

It's so surprising that this actually might be Mark Allen's first world final as you think of him as a serial winner.

It seems like he should already have been there, but it just shows how difficult a tournament this is to win.
