Wu Yize is a star and what a star he will become if he can go on and lift this title. To have a second winner from China would be incredible - but Shaun Murphy will have something to say about that.

I feel absolutely awful for Mark Allen. I wanted Wu Yize to win but let’s be honest, he shouldn’t be in the final . How Mark recovers from this I don’t know but I really wish him well.

I think we will have fireworks in the final. They will both be bashing in balls all over the place. It will be about who can play the best positional play. Maybe Shaun Murphy would have preferred to have played Mark Allen than Wu Yize?

  6. 'Going to be tough against Murphy'published at 23:44 BST 2 May

    Wu 17-16 Allen

Wu Yize, after beating Mark Allen to reach the World Snooker Championship final, told BBC Two: "I feel I am still not recovering from the nerves. I feel sorry for Mark. I felt like I was losing the match, especially the second black in that frame. But I was able to take the opportunity.

"I gave myself too much pressure in the second session because I was having a big lead in the first session. I wanted to keep the lead down. In the last session I made some mistakes in safety play and then towards the end I was lucky.

"Would I like to follow in Zhao Xintong's footsteps? Most definitely. I want to give my best efforts and everything I have got to try to win the World Championship.

"Shaun Murphy has been playing well throughout the tournament, he beat Xintong, and he's been playing well in terms of scoring so it's going to be a very tough match but I believe both players are going to give their best."

Wu Yize looked down and out at 16-14. He was under so much pressure and he just cruised round the table. He did so well.

  9. 'Miss on black was pure pressure'published at 23:33 BST 2 May

    Wu 17-16 Allen

Beaten semi-finalist Mark Allen told BBC Two: "You don't deserve to be in a world final if you're missing balls like that - that was just pure pressure to be honest.

"Normally I'm pretty good under the pressure but just didn't handle it well today. I had two or three good chances to close out the match but I didn't do it, so credit to Wu Yize.

I had more than enough chances to win it. I wishes Wu good luck. I think he's going to be world champion. Even though I'm devastated to lose that match, I think the right person is in the final. The way he play is great for the game - he pots long balls and doesn't seem to mind the pressure.

"All credit to Wu. If he doesn't win it this time he'll win plenty in the future but it's a sore one for me for sure."

16-14 behind and he pulled it out of the bag.

What a player, what a performance.

He was on the brink of losing on many occasions, he had to sit there and suffer, but when he got his chance he was calm under pressure.

He kept his head, kept his cue action, struck the ball solidly.
