    Wu 11-10 Allen

Mark Allen leads by 28 with 27 remaining and he leaves the table but not before dropping a lovely snooker on Wu Yize.

Wu fouls and adds another four to Allen's tally.

The 22-year-old needs something special from here.

It's been very brisk this morning. It's been an excellent potting and break-building fest.

This is the longest frame. They do tend to be like that when it's the last one of the session.

I don't know why it works out like that, but so many times it happens.

    The tension!

Mark Allen, leading by 22, rattles a red into the jaws of the pocket and allows Wu Yize back to the table.

    It's too close to call.

    Blimey.

Wu Yize goes for a risky shot that he really didn't need to make and gets it all wrong, potting the cue ball in the process.

You can't fault the young man's bravery as it's how he's played the entire way through but that may well have just handed the frame to Mark Allen.

  5. O'Sullivan tipped Wu for the toppublished at 12:44 BST 2 May

    Wu 11-10 Allen

Wu Yize is the new man on the block in these World Championship semi-finals - but his performance shouldn't come as a great surprise.

Ask seven-time Crucible champion Ronnie O'Sullivan.

He practised with Wu earlier this year in Hong Kong and knew he was facing a player capable of hitting snooker's greatest heights.

Speaking before the World Grand Prix in February, O'Sullivan said: “I think Wu Yize is gong to be world number one, I'd give him three years, definitely going to be world champion very, very soon.

    "[He's a] phenomenal player.

"A lot of people liken him to Paul Hunter but I think he's more like a modern day Steve Davis. He's more dynamic, more cue power, more aggressive, more scoring power, but his positional play for me is on the level of Steve Davis.

"It always goes in the middle of the hole. Until you practise with someone that you can really appreciate how good they are.

"After day two I was like 'this kid is really special'. I expect him to do a lot of great things in snooker."

    A chance for Mark Allen!

On a break of 30, Wu Yize leaves himself with a difficult red and can only rattle the jaws of the pocket.

Allen is now back on the table. It's far from an easy visit with how things currently look, mind.

    Wu 11-10 Allen

Mark Allen makes it. But will it be costly?

He leaves a red open for Wu Yize and 'The Pistol' is now at the mercy of the 22-year-old.

On current form, you wouldn't bet against him taking the frame from here.

These two must have heard the noise from everyone wanting this match to go on a little longer because they are currently stuck in a snooker battle with only Wu Yize to pot a ball in this frame as of yet.

One knocks it behind the green, the other knocks it into the pack of reds.

    Who makes the first mistake?

I'm going to take a different view, Wu Yize maybe technically very proficient but I think he is quite boring to watch, it is like watching a robot or a machine.

It's brilliant. As soon as a player gets in, you think the frame's over. Especially with Wu Yize, because the breaks he's knocking in are phenomenal.

You expect the players to peak at this part of the tournament. Getting through the early rounds is important but nobody really plays their best in the early rounds.

The longer you're in this, you've got more sessions to settle in and for players to find their very best form.

It's who blinks first or last wins or loses, and that's what you want to watch.

Wu Yize seemed like he was in a trance that frame. Absolutely beautiful play.

    Max, St Andrews

Another PlayStation break by Wu Yize. Once he learns the tactical side shown by Mark Allen in this match and he will be absolutely formidable.

    Wu 11-10 Allen

    Joe Perry

Wu Yize refuses to leave the table and not many players would take these shots on - he is fearless.

This is why we all love snooker, this is why we all tune in and watch it at every opportunity. This has been one of the best sessions of the Championship so far.

The sheer confidence and exuberance of him. It's wonderful to see.

That was no gimme, the plant. It had to be made, totally off line.

  14. Wu retakes the leadpublished at 12:20 BST 2 May

    Wu 11-10 Allen

Another wonderful century from Wu Yize as he retakes the lead.

That is breaks of 142, 76, 121 and now 140 for the 22-year-old on his way to frame wins.

The entire visit from Wu is worth watching for some of the shots produced.

What an outstanding semi-final we have on our hands.

Joe Perry said Mark Allen looked unflappable - well how about this for a bit of steel from Wu Yize?

What a visit to start this frame.

Some incredibly difficult shots and he's made them look routine. The plant he has just produced was outstanding.

Wu is over the half-century mark now with a lovely looking table in front of him.

There have been two centuries and four breaks of over 50 so far today and that has meant the longest frame in this session has been just 21 minutes.

Much more of an advertisement for the game than Friday's epic slugfest.

  17. 'Proper snooker'published at 12:12 BST 2 May

    Stephen Hendry

I say it all the time in these multi-session matches - players can win bunches of frames and then the interval halts that and the other player has his turn.

I love watching Mark Allen play when he's like this.

Through the season he's been quite painful to watch: refusing balls, playing slow, playing negative safety, everything.

But he's playing proper snooker here and it's brilliant to watch.

  18. 'Allen looks unflappable'published at 12:10 BST 2 May

Mark Allen is looking really good now. He has had everything thrown at him from Wu Yize and it's 10-10 so he is looking really good to me.

He looks unflappable. He is very in control of his emotions, in control of his game and I think they are really good signs for Mark Allen and his supporters.

  19. Allen draws levelpublished at 12:07 BST 2 May

    Wu 10-10 Allen

Build something, Mark Allen indeed did.

Although not all in one visit, Allen manages to claw back level with Wu Yize thanks to a break of 99,

"A proper grafting break," says John Parrott.

The Pistol has gone up a gear since the interval.
