De Beer try, O'Brien con
The pressure tells!
You can't say it hasn't been coming. The ball is worked to the left and although Rio Dyer looks to be heading into touch - he brilliantly slips an inside pass to Che Hope to keep the move alive.
More phases follows and eventually Tinus de Beer sniped through a gap to score. O'Brien nails the extras from out wide and momentarily at least, a vocal crowd falls silent.

Angus Bell (Murphy con)
The props are doing the business so far! Although that was not a prop-like try from Angus Bell as he picks off the back of a ruck and sits full back Cam Winnett on his backside. In basketball, they call that an ankle breaker!
He still had work to do but showed great power and athleticism to get over under the posts. Murphy converts and it's two converted tries for the hosts at the midway point of the first half.
They win a scrum penalty to set up a lineout chance and after the forward drive comes up short, winger Rio Dyer is inches away from scoring in the corner.
A knock-on breaks the momentum but we are back for another penalty.
Cardiff get the ball as far as the halfway line but no real potency and Ulster secure a turnover penalty that Jack Murphy deposits into the terrace between the 10 metre line and 22.

Wilson would have enjoyed that, what a fantastic chain drive by Ulster.
The momentum was building and the back-row combined really well down the right-hand side, they’ve been putting the likes of McCann and Rae to target those wingers and Carson with another strong carry.
From a Cardiff perspective, they need to look out for those because Wilson will be on the look out for those now.

Scott Wilson (Murphy con)
Some more lovely handling from Ulster with a particularly attractive offload out the back from Matt Dalton setting Dave McCann away down the right.
The ball is recycled and Scott Wilson crashes over under the posts. That leaves an easy conversion for Jack Murphy and Ulster have the points their starts deserves
