Converted Try Ulster 21-14 Cardiffpublished at 21:11 GMT 31 January

    Stefan Emmanuel (Sheedy con)

Well that didn't last long! Great response from Cardiff as Callum Sheedy bursts through the Ulster line into acres of space.

He knows he can't finish himself but Stefan Emanuel is on his shoulder and he just does enough to shrug off Werner Kok's last-ditch tackle attempt and go over for a score that Sheedy converts.

We really have a game on our hands in the last ten here at the Affidea Stadium.

  2. try

Converted Try Ulster 21-7 Cardiffpublished at 21:10 GMT 31 January

    Charlie Irvine (Murphy con)

Clinical from Ulster. They steal the ball at the afore-mentioned scrum and, after a couple of phases, big second row Charlie Murphy barrels over under the sticks for another easy two-pointer from Jack Murphy.

    Ulster needed that.

    Ospreys 7-13 Dragons

Right on cue, Ospreys opt for the corner from a penalty in front of the posts.

It nearly pays dividends after Ross Moriarty is stopped under the shadow of the posts but then the ball goes loose and Mr. Connor calls knock-on.

    Defensive scrum Dragons.

Much better from Ulster as they go coast-to-coast. First, Zac Ward makes ground down the left before Matt Dalton is sent thundering away down the far touchline.

He gets a big arm free for an offload but David Shanahan fumbles with the line at his mercy. However, that has woken up the crowd here in Belfast.

This has been a very stop-start second half.

Which hasn't helped the atmosphere, or the temperature in everyone's fingers and toes.

    Ospreys 7-13 Dragons

Ospreys just can't sustain any momentum here.

They hammer away up front but Morgan Morse is the latest to be guilty of sloppy play has he spills a pass forward.

As a side note, and we seem to be flagging up this debate every week, the home side have turned down several shots at goal tonight.

The Dragons have opted for the posts three times, twice successfully, and the difference between the sides is six points.

    Is there a lesson there?

Leigh Halfpenny is off the bench for Cardiff. Can his experience help guide his side back into this one?

They have certainly had the better of proceedings since the break.

The emotions have taken over, and it means more to the Dragons.

They have been the most consistent tonight. They’ve gone from their own line, into the Ospreys half and look to be the complete side so far.

The Dragons know the Ospreys are on a warning, so they're playing a smart game.

That was a big intervention from Charlie Irvine, who is also a medical student, at the line-out.

On a pitch of big men he still stands out. He's a big lad and made every inch count there.

  11. Penalty: Ospreys 7-13 Dragonspublished at 58 mins

    O'Brien

More Dragons pressure yields another penalty and Angus O'Brien, from just right of the posts, nails it.

The man in charge is losing patience now. Ospreys are warned that a card is looming if the offences continue.

    Ospreys 7-10 Dragons

Mr. Priestland is right there, Ospreys have been ill-disciplined tonight and have not built up any sustained momentum. Indeed, as I type, a scrum penalty goes the way of Dragons.

In terms of the score though, this one is still on a knife-edge.

    Rhys Priestland
Ex Wales international fly-half on S4C

Discipline has really let the Ospreys down here, as well as some of the decisions.

It’s not been the best night for the hosts, they’ve got to get back into this somehow.

More scrum half-related violence as, this time, it's poor Harry McKee who absorbs a powerful run from Harri Millard. There was a penalty advantage anyway and Cardiff go to the corner and have a line-out on the 22.

However, it's messy and Ulster will have the scrum.

You have to say, that has been coming for Cardiff the past 10 minutes.

It started from Lawrence from the base of the scrum, with some lovely carries by Thomas and Mulder under the sticks.

    Game on.

    Or not.

Referee Ben Connor calls over Sam Parry and explains he's reversing the penalty. James Fender the guilty party with a shoulder charge.

He escapes a card though - but Parry's glance towards his second row is the equivalent of a death stare.

    Ospreys 7-10 Dragons

As for below, youngsters today may not get the Crash Bandicoot reference.

But as for my generation. If you know, you know.

Anyway, the rugby. Penalty Ospreys and they opt for close-range lineout....

    Ospreys 7-10 Dragons

Ospreys winger Daniel Kasende shows his skills for the first time tonight.

He executes a couple of 360 turns in midfield to break several tackles. Not seen spinning like that since Crash Bandicoot came out on the Playstation.

It sets up an attacking platform for his team...

Remember, 19 points in October 2024. Then 14 points in December.

Cardiff have a habit of comeback wins over Ulster.

  20. try

Converted Try Ulster 14-7 Cardiffpublished at 20:54 GMT 31 January

    Johan Mulder (Sheedy con)

Much better from Cardiff and, after some patient handling, Harri Millard makes ground down the left. It's worked back to the middle where scrum half Johan Mulder dives over. Callum Sheedy adds the extras and the deficit is halved.

    Game on!
