Make that five metres out. They are getting closer.

Perhaps a message has come on from the sideline but Wales have completely flipped the script from early on and have made some big hits getting in Ireland's face.

However, they need to get better at those contestable balls.

Doak does well to spot Doris on the short side and the Irish captain is almost in.

That's the difference between the top teams, Ireland threw everything at that.

There's eight Lions in this Irish starting XV, with more on the bench. That will be the difference.

Ireland have the penalty as Wales stray offside on halfway.

Jack Crowley sends it to the edge of the 22.

Wales captain Dewi Lake had a difficult opening afternoon against England but in the past couple of games he has been excellent.

The hooker is leading by example again here in Dublin where he won his first cap in 2022.

This is shaping up to be a great test match.

For the second year in a row I find myself bemoaning the fact that Wales have been awful all tournament but seem to have turned up against Ireland (....yes, I did make that comment last year too!)

    Harry, York

Wales showing more in the first 25 mins against Ireland than England showed all game last week. Some great defence.

Ireland were superb for the opening 10 minutes but things just aren't sticking more.

Rob Baloucoune beats his man and looks to offload to Jacob Stockdale, but the two aren't on the same wavelength and it's into touch.

Wales are playing some lovely stuff and asking plenty of questions of this Irish defence.

That disallowed Jack Conan try really took the wind out of Ireland's sails.

Wales have it again on the fringes of the 22 but Jack Conan does really well to get over the ball and win Ireland the penalty.

He's a hard man to move when he gets into the right positions.

Even if it is just a taste while Gibson-Park gets patched up, it's a brilliant moment for Nathan Doak. A proud moment for him and, of course, his dad Neil.

Wales are back in this game, they're tackling so much better.

Ireland are lucky to have 15 men on the pitch. They know exactly what they're doing and giving away two penalties in the red zone Wales have to capitalise.

We know Nathan Doak is good enough, he is getting the opportunity now. He needs to hit the ground running and do what he has been doing for Ulster.

It's a special moment for Nathan Doak, who is on for Jamison Gibson-Park for his Ireland debut.

The starting scrum half needed some treatment and has jogged down the tunnel, so I'm not sure if we'll see him again today.

A lot better from Wales, putting more pressure on and forcing those mistakes from Doris.

He’s very lucky not to get a yellow there, two similar penalties and Dewi Lake is asking why there wasn’t a card shown.

That same tap penalty move worked for Wales and Rhys Carre against France and Scotland where the prop scored two tries in successive games.

Ireland had done their homework this time as Carre was held up over the line.

    Huge defence from Ireland!

Dewi Lake goes for the tap and go and it's fed to Rhys Carre.

The prop goes to crash over but Irish bodies get under the ball and it's held up over the line.
