Penalties mounting up against Wales now.

Prop Maisie Davies penalised at the breakdown and the Baa-Baas kick to the corner.

Strong defence again and Sean Lynn's side hold onto their lead.

The Barbarians are still getting to know each other a bit better on the field.

Wales are comfortably getting around the rucks, they are very organised so far.

    Barbarians 0-5 Wales

Wales looked strong in defence but they are penalised and the Baa-Baas kick to the corner.

Carys Phillips might be eyeing a try against her compatriots...

But no! The hooker is pinged for a dummy throw after some communcation issues.

That is excellent by Wales - a near perfect exit from close to their line.

Solid line-out, good carry by Sisilia Tuipulotu, strong kick.

They are all huddling as a group with ice towels on their head trying to lower their body temperature.

They are lucky not to be be in direct sunlight like the men were earlier but it is still really muggy.

Alisha Joyce and Alex Callender are a bit of a double threat.

They are picking their moments and when the Barbarians are disjointed they are leaving those opportunities to jackle.

  7. Time for a breakpublished at 19 mins

    Barbarians 0-5 Wales

The teams head to the touchline for a water break after one quarter.

Thankfully there is some cloud at the moment but it is still ridiculously hot.

Several Wales players have cold towels on their heads. I'm jealous.

Wonderful charge down the left by blind-side flanker Amy Rule to within yards of the Wales line.

The Baa-Baas keep going through the phases but then bizarrely Claudia Pena opts for a grubber that goes into touch.

Odd choice but it will put the pressure on a slightly wobbly Welsh line-out.

    Barbarians 0-5 Wales

Terrific work at the breakdown by Alisha Joyce to win a penalty in the 22.

Wales are spoilt for choice in the back row. That is one department where they will have real options in this World Cup cycle.

    Really good stuff from Wales.

I thought Wales might have butchered their opportunity at one point, but they stuck with it, kept the ball and were patient and Kayleigh Powell gets over.

How did she manage that? Ruby Tui somehow gathers her own chip but the Baa-Baas eventually lose the ball when playing to the other wing.

A little bit too loose by the invitational side but they stay on the attack after winning a penalty.

Some big hits going in from the Baa-Baas but Wales work the opening down the left.

Bryonie King goes close and the Barbarians are penalised for offside.

Wales go through the phases with penalty advantage and then spread the ball to the right, where Kayleigh Powell eventually reaches over.

Good finish by the fly-half just moments after she had produced a clever offload.

She can't add the extras though.

They must have money to burn here at Twickenham - the floodlights are on for this second game.

    It's a nice balance of a Baa-Baas team.

You've got players who will get a nice send-off and people who are really in form.

    Barbarians 0-0 Wales

Terrific work at the breakdown by Wales captain Alex Callender and we'll get the first chance to see the 'visitors' in attack.

    That chance goes begging.

    It is VERY hot now.

  16. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Barbarians 0-0 Wales

Barbarians are dominating territory at the start of this fixture.

They have some star quality that will test this inexperienced Welsh side, with Ruby Tui getting almost as big cheers as George North did earlier.

What a pleasure it is to be here at Twickenham for this iconic game, Wales v the Baa-Baas, so much experience in that side.

But a young, exciting, new-look Welsh side, the start of a new generation possibly.

    Barbarians 0-0 Wales

Plenty of movement behind by Wales and it will be interesting to see how Kayleigh Powell, who starred at full-back in the Six Nations, marshalls things from fly-half.

    Barbarians 0-0 Wales

Referee Nikki O'Donnell blows her whistle and Kayleigh Powell gets us under way for part two of the Barbarians-Wales double-header.

Will it end level or can Wales make it 2-0?

Just a bit of news from the Junior World Championship, where Wales Under-20 held on to beat hosts Georgia 25-24 in their opening game - despite having Cardiff wing Tom Bowen sent off in the final minute.
