    Northampton 26-14 Scarlets

The experienced Gareth Davies is now on at number nine for Scarlets but his clearance kick is a modest one.

Northampton attack and now have another penalty 10 metres out. They've gone for the corner.

  2. Quins extend their leadpublished at 16:39 GMT 18 January

    La Rochelle 7-17 Harlequins

Quins have stretched their lead to 10 points, thanks to a superb try from Tyrone Green!

A lineout near the tryline results in the ball being spun to the right, before slight of hand from Chandler Cunningham-South flips it up to the full-back, who crashes over by the posts.

Marcus Smith converts, and as it stands La Rochelle are being dumped out of the competition with Leicester progressing to the last 16.

    THIS IS NOT A DRILL!

After being decimated all day in this department, Scarlets win a scrum penalty.

In a pop music reference that only people of my generation will truly appreciate, it's now 'all Saints'.

Henry Pollock shows tremendous strength to surge 30 metres upfield but mercifully for Scarlets, after the ball goes wide Blair Murray pulls off a jackal at the breakdown and wins a penalty.

    A score looked inevitable there.

    That's the bonus point!

This time the work of James Ramm doesn't go to waste.

He attacks from deep and after a weaving run, provides the scoring pass to Ollie Sleightholme.

Anthony Belleau nails the extras and after being up against it for much of the afternoon, the home side now have breathing space.

James Ramm evades several tackles to put Saints on the front foot but Anthony Belleau, somewhat wastefully, opts to kick across field and the ball only finds touch.

I said moments ago it's been five scrum penalties in favour of Northampton so far - well make it six.

Once again the away pack is sent half way back to the Severn Bridge and as a result, are now pinned in their own half.

Archie Hughes launches a box-kick and some pin-ball follows, before Scarlets are awarded a scrum 20 metres from the Northampton line.

The away side are back up to 15 players, so let's see how this one goes...

  9. Kick-off: Northampton 19-14 Scarletspublished at 16:23 GMT 18 January

Anthony Belleau does the honours and Scarlets clear their lines.

Incidentally, the penalty count in the first half was 9-1 in favour of the hosts. Bear in mind five of them came from the scrums.

To state the blindingly obvious, Scarlets must address that to have any hope here.

    Northampton 19-14 Scarlets

So, if things stay this way, Northampton will secure second place in Pool Four and in theory, an easier path to Bilbao in May.

For Scarlets, nothing less than a win is enough to keep their European adventure alive. Do that with four tries, then it's the last-16 of the Champions Cup.

Manage a win without a bonus point, and they'll join three other Welsh sides in the Challenge Cup knockout stages.

Their season hinges on the next 40 minutes.

Speaking on Premier Sports, former Welsh international Tom Shanklin said: "The issue for Scarlets is the scrum. They have to find a way to sort that out.

"But if they can match that first half display in the second, then they are still right in this game."

    And breathe.

You wouldn't have seen a more intense 40 minutes in this competition this season.

Scarlets, roundly written off before kick-off, haven turned up meaning business. But Northampton have weathered the storm and through a powerful scrum and the brilliance of Edoardo Todaro, remain on course to finish second in the Pool.

  13. Quins lead La Rochellepublished at 16:07 GMT 18 January

    HT: La Rochelle 7-10 Harlequins

A superb end to the first 40 for Quins, with Caden Murley diving over by the left corner flag for a fine try converted almost from the touchline by Marcus Smith.

The fly-half had earlier got Quins onto the scoresheet with a penalty.

A win would give Quins a home tie in the next round.

    Todaro try, Belleau con

    The hat-trick!

Scarlets were out on their feet at the end of the half, but they couldn't hang on.

Northampton keep attacking and Edoardo Todaro switches over from his right wing to take a Fraser Dingwall pass and dive over.

Anthony Belleau converts and after being up against it for much of the half, the hosts lead at the break.

Anthony Bellau goes cross-field and finds winger Ollie Sleightholme.

He too chips ahead but his effort lacks control and drifts into touch.

Scarlets are taking their time over the lineout now, you sense that with 14 men, they are playing for half-time.

    Todaro try

A second try for the winger!

From the scrum penalty, Northampton opt to pack down again.

This time they don't get the shunt but they make use of the extra man. Tommy Freeman throws a pass out wide that goes to ground, but Edoardo Todaro still manages to pick up and jink over out wide.

  17. Sin bin: Kemsley Mathiaspublished at 35 mins

    Northampton 7-14 Scarlets

Like night follows day, another Scarlets scrum means another Northampton penalty.

The referee has seen enough and Scarlets prop Kemsley Mathias is the guy in the firing line. He's off for 10 minutes.

Saints might be trailing, but their front row is having a field day here.

For the fourth time they win a scrum penalty and it gives Anthony Belleau the chance to boot them into the Scarlets 22.

Again though, the move breaks down in midfield as Fletcher Anderson makes a big hit.

At the risk of going ridiculously early, get involved you lot.

Thumbs up if you think Scarlets can keep this up and get a shock win.

Thumbs down if you're expecting a blow-up, and a home win, in the second half.

Jac Davies is back in his feet, albeit with a bandage around his head. He's fine to carry on.

But from the Scarlets scrum, it's another Northampton penalty followed by some handbags with Mr Pollock heavily involved.

No chance of this final pool game petering out quietly folks.
