'Trepidation', but Scots should winpublished at 16:35 GMT 21 February

Wales v Scotland (16:40)
Peter Wright Former Scotland prop on BBC Radio Scotland
With the history of Scotland in the last nine years, I'm not that confident.
I think the record after an England game is that we've lost just about every time we have beaten England.
But I'm excited about the game. If we play like we did last week, it is going to be a rout and it will be a fantastic game to watch.
I just have that sense of trepidation. But I just think there are not a lot of these Welsh players who are international class and I think we'll win fairly convincingly.

The world rankings don’t quite matter as much now that
the draw for the 2027 World Cup has been done but Wales could drop from 11th
this weekend.
Georgia, who are currently 13th, beat Spain
42-30 in Tbilisi earlier.
If Wales lose by 15 points or fewer then they will drop
below Japan into 12th while if the margin of defeat is bigger then
they will be leapfrogged by both the Brave Blossoms and Georgians.
Steve Tandy’s side cannot climb above 10th-placed
Italy even if they draw or win.
Scotland are ninth and if they win then they go up to
seventh above Australia and Fiji, a draw and they stay ninth, defeat and they
slip below Italy, who take on France in Lille tomorrow.
Of course, none of this matters as much as it did in
November.
Wales’ last-kick win against Japan meant they avoided tougher
seeding for the draw for Australia 2027, when they were grouped with England,
Tonga and Zimbabwe.

After a string of record defeats, BBC pundit and former Wales captain Sam Warburton was desperately trying to look for the green shoots of optimism from last week's performance against France.

This may only be the third round of games but Scotland could pick up their second piece of silverware of the tournament today.
The Doddie Weir Cup was commissioned in 2018 to raise awareness for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and to celebrate the life of one of rugby's most beloved figures.
Former Scotland and British and Irish Lions lock Doddie Weir was a fierce competitor on the pitch but an even stronger campaigner against the condition that ultimately cost him his life.
And as someone who met him, also a wonderful person.
Wales won four of the first five but Scotland are the holders having won the last three and could add that trophy to the Calcutta Cup they lifted last week.
Tandy will have the benefit of knowing Russell better than most having been his defence coach at Scotland between 2019 and 2025.
"He was brilliant to work with and I loved it," said Tandy.
"He was an amazing character. Both sides of the ball, defence and attack, I loved working with him.
"You would see stuff in training that was pretty special, to be honest. You realise that sometimes you could have everything perfect and he could pull the rabbit out of the hat."

Sam Warburton Former Wales captain on BBC One
I looked at the fixtures Wales have against the sides in blue, especially the Italy and Scotland games where I thought Wales should smell blood.
I watched Scotland=England last week and they were so good. But Wales can significantly improve. What a lot of people forget is that their last four games have been against the top four in the world. Wales were never going to win those games.
This game should be a lot closer and Wales should be better. I thought they made some strides last week. Where they have to improve massively is defence. Defence has to be the big focus today.

Scotland may be head and shoulders favourites today but captain Sione Tuipulotu refuses to put much store in the odds.
Speaking on the eve of the game, he said the dejection of losing to Italy still lives with him and he is reluctant to let it go.
"That feeling still lingers," the centre said, before once again mentioning the desperation his players felt going into the Calcutta Cup and the need to tap into those same emotions in Cardiff.
"I put pressure on the group to be desperate out there and show desperation," he added.
"It also makes me a little bit frustrated because the week before we couldn't against Italy for a lot of reasons. So that feeling is still there for me and I hope it stays with me for the rest of the tournament, because I think it's needed.
"I'm still very desperate. I just know you can't lose two games in this tournament and think you're going to be there at the back end for anything.
"In order for us to stay in this tournament, we've got to be just as desperate, just as emotional, just as clinical as we were last week."

Sam Costelow starts today for the first time under Steve Tandy - and it's his first appearance for Wales since the first Test defeat to Japan last summer.
Dan Edwards started the next seven Tests but does not make the matchday squad today.

Wales got their Under-20s Six Nations campaign up and running with a bonus-point 31-21 win against Scotland at Cardiff Arms Park.
Richard Whiffin's side had endured frustrating defeats to title hopefuls England and France but it was third time lucky against the Scots.
As they did in the first two rounds, Wales raced into a half-time lead as lock Luke Evans and centre Bailey Cutts crossed for a 19-0 advantage.
Scotland replied after the restart through centre Campbell Waugh only for a rare Welsh attack to earn a response through wing Dylan Scott.
Wales had breathing space and got their bonus on the hour through hooker Tom Howe before the spirited Scots caused some late nerves with tries by replacement forwards Jack Marshall and Jackson Rennie.
I believe Scotland will play a fast, open-field game, no need to get involved with any power play, apart from forwards setting the ball up. Costelow will continue to kick away ball, that's a cert. Scotland by 20+ points.

Former Scotland lock Jim Hamilton has questioned the decision to have the Principality Stadium roof closed.
Speaking to Scrum V The Warm Up, Hamilton suggested it was a bad tactic against a free-lowing French and believes it will be a similar case when Steve Tandy's men face Scotland.
