Surely Crowley has shown today why he should be picked ahead of Prendergast. Ireland were a different team team after he came on.

    David, North Somerset

Great game. Italy really showing themselves with a brilliant performance. Ireland's bench making a big difference. Italy ran out of steam, one bounce away from an equaliser. Ioane making a few silly decisions, none more so than the last one. Good comeback for Ireland

    Nick, Wirral

Well done to Ireland. Beat a decent Italy side, but I dread to think how badly they will get beaten by France and England. Ireland rugby is in a bad place.

A few decent individual performances but, overall, that is not a performance that will give England too many sleepless nights ahead of next week's game.

The scrum is a big concern for me.

Remember all the criticism of Scotland last week? Face it, Italy are a good side now.

    Donnie, Glasgow

A great game helped by fabulous refereeing.

    Graham, Somerset

Ireland clinging on against Italy in Dublin - despite Italy’s improvement, is a sorry state of affairs for Ireland. Only heading one way…

It was a brilliant performance from Italy, they didn't get the win but they backed up the performance after Scotland again today. The scrum, I have never seen Furlong put up on his feet! I feel sorry for Italy because they didn't get the result but next week will be big for them.

A massive sigh of relief for Andy Farrell and Ireland. Italy have come to Dublin and showed that win against Scotland last week wasn't a fluke.

Ireland didn't even celebrate as Jack Crowley kicked the ball dead. That tells you how much they had to work for that one.

They properly got away with it.

My blood pressure isn't good after that! A horrible few minutes to endure as an Ireland fan.

    What an ending.

Italy threw everything at that but Ireland hold on.

That was huge from James Lowe, who was gifted the pass from Ioane and sprinted 80 metres upfield.

Ireland win the penalty and Crowley pops it into the corner for one final Irish attack.

I think huge credit has to go to Ireland for how they managed the second half and they have been able to frustrate Italy.
