*Gauff 5-4 Vesnina
Elena Vesnina rattles to a quick hold to put the pressure back on Coco Gauff. The American has the chance to serve out for the opening set...
Gauff 5-3 Vesnina*
Can Coco Gauff back up that break? The 17-year-old whips down a seventh ace but is then undone on the baseline after Elena Vesnina manages to engage her in a rally on the next.
But then a huge backhand, picking it up with almost zero back lift and it whizzes beyond the Russian as Gauff holds to consolidate her advantage.
* Kerber 7-5 2-2 Sorribes Tormo
Louise Pleming
Former professional tennis player at Wimbledon
That's the danger for Kerber. If she doesn't execute well and really get a deep shot it, you can see Sorribes Tormo get that shape on the ball and get her opponent moving.
It's hard for Kerber to manufacture the pace.
*Gauff 4-3 Vesnina
Elena Vesnina gets Coco Gauff on the run before the American strides to the net and the Russian looks for a passing backhand winner, but it drifts just wide! Gauff gets the break.
Medvedev 6-4 2-1 Alcaraz*
Vamos! Carlos Alcaraz isn't going anywhere just yet. The Spaniard breaks back immediately to the frustration of Daniil Medvedev.
Now, can he back it up, as he failed to so in the first set?
The 18-year-old has the Court One crowd on his side...
Gauff 3-3 Vesnina*
And now it's Coco Gauff who senses an opportunity at 0-30 after Elena Vesnina punches a forehand beyond the baseline.
The Russian responds with a whipped backhand that Gauff can only prod into the guts of the net. But then double faults... two break points in Gauff's favour.
Gauff 3-3 Vesnina*
Big hold for Coco Gauff, she comes through after facing two break points to level in this opening set.
*Gauff 2-3 Vesnina
Coco Gauff fends off the first with a kicking serve and the Russian then hooks a forehand into the tape - Elena Vesnina will be furious with that one, it say up perfectly for the 34-year-old.
Gauff responds by thrashing down a sixth ace, complemented by a little "come on", before being pegged back to deuce.
Medvedev* 6-4 2-0 Alcaraz
Just as he did in the opening set, Russian Daniil Medvedev claims an early break in the second to move 2-0 ahead against Carlos Alcaraz.
The Spanish teen saves the first of two break points, but he then hits into the net to hand Medvedev control of this match.
*Gauff 2-3 Vesnina
That Coco Gauff serve is really rocking. The American fires down a fifth ace of the match but then leaks a forehand off target and it's 15-30. Just a little bit of pressure now, and that pressure is cranked up after the teenager stubs a volley into the tape. Two break points for Elena Vesnina.
*Gauff 2-3 Vesnina
Coco Gauff takes a tumble but is quickly back on her feet. The American isn't able to stop the momentum of Elena Vesnina's wicked serve though as the Russian whistles to a hold.
Medvedev* 6-4 0-0 Alcaraz
Daniil Medvedev responds to Carlos Alcaraz's break back with another break of his own to take the first set 6-4.
The Russian second seed has won 100% of points on his first serve, but he had to raise his level there to hold off the talented Spanish teenager.
Gauff 2-2 Vesnina*
No messing from Coco Gauff on her serve either, the 17-year-old storming her way to 40-0 before a double fault pegs her back. But the American isn't fazed and hammers down another wrist-rattler to hold. This one remains on serve.
*Gauff 1-2 Vesnina
Elena Vesnina has only played five singles matches since her return from maternity leave but doesn't look at all short of form or fitness at the moment. The 34-year-old flies through another service to hold with just the one blemish on her card.
Medvedev 5-4 Alcaraz*
Superb!
With world number two Daniil Medvedev serving for the first set, the 18-year-old Carlos Alcaraz has broken back!
The Spaniard has played some lovely stuff since his early setback and is really growing in to this contest now. Medvedev has a fight on his hands here.
Gauff 1-1 Vesnina*
Coco Gauff bats long and is taken to deuce but comes through to hold with an ace. All square.
*Gauff 0-1 Vesnina
Elena Vesnina is in the zone out on Centre Court, hammering away a forehand return to move to 0-30 before Coco Gauff gets on the board and then claws back to 30-30.
* Kerber 7-5 Sorribes Tormo
It has been like a game of chess out there. Kerber's baseline control verses Sorribes Tormo's Spanish rally-all-the-live-long-day style.
Kerber's drop shots with pin-point accuracy get the job done, but this has been a quality match so far.
Medvedev* 5-3 Alcaraz
Carlos Alcaraz became the youngest man to reach the third round at Roland Garros since 1992 this year, and continued his stellar 2021 with a five-set victory over Yasutaka Uchiyama on his Wimbledon debut on Wednesday.
He's treating the Court One crowd to some delightful play so far today, but Medvedev remains in control of their opening set following his early break.
The 18-year-old Spaniard records another confidence-boosting serve to force the world number two to serve for the set.
Moore/Silva 4-6 3-6 Siegemund/Zvonareva
British doubles interest began so well on Thursday with Heather Watson and Harriet Dart securing comfortable progress.
But the news since then has all been a bit bleak with exits for Anton Matusevich and Luke Johnson, Naomi Broady and Jodie Burrage, and Jonny O'Mara (alongside his partner Hugo Nys, of Monaco).
Tara Moore and Eden Silva are the latest duo to depart, although they gave a good account of themselves in defeat to 11th seeds Laura Siegemund and Vera Zvonareva on court four.
