Well, well, well! Andy Murray has done what he’s needed to there to nick the opener, getting the ball back plenty and making Nikoloz Basilashvili undo himself with some mistimed returns.
Wonderful reaction from the Scot too. Baring his teeth as he marched towards the fans behind him, urging them to make more noise.

Will power, crowd support and expertise, and Murray has won this Centre Court over again (as if he needed to).

Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV
I love to see Murray this pumped up and using the crowd - that's absolutely awesome.

Murray 6-4 Basilashvili
How we've missed the Andy Murray roar at Wimbledon. And there it is in all it's glory as a two handed backhand can't be kept alive by Basilashvili.
Just the one break point in the set, and it's the very last point of the set. Murray takes it and Murray is a set up.
Murray roaring, with loads of fans cheering, and it's sunny - it's summer!
Murray wins first set vs Basilashvili
An unforced error from Basilashvili, missing at the net with Murray nowhere and that's set point Murray.

Chanice Herd: I've wanted to come to this place for nearly 20 years! And after a year of working for the NHS I decided to reward myself with tickets for court 1 on the first day! Of course I had to get myself over to the hill for Andy's match! Let's go! #WimbledonThing, external
A drop shot from Murray gets his opponent sprinting to the net and he can only flick it long. 15-30. Murray two points from the first set.
Murray 5-4 Basilashvili*
Neither man has had a break chance yet, but a break now would give Murray the set. Basilashvili serving to stay in the set.
Set over or tie-break? We'll soon find out.
Advance warning. At 19:00 BST, this match moves from BBC Two to BBC One.
Murray 5-4 Basilashvili*
Andy Murray has never lost a first-round match at Wimbledon. He's got his work cut out against the 24th seed to maintain that record, but the Murray serve is on the mark so far.
A volley at the net from Basilashvili goes wrong and he nets from close range, before Murray pulls a forehand well wide.
An attempted sliced lob from the back of the court is no good from Murray either, far too long, but no need to worry as the ace that follows takes Murray one game from the set.
John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV
This cat and mouse play is going to suit Murray very well in this match.
*Murray 4-4 Basilashvili
Murray took that one to deuce but the 24th seed swats away the danger and eight games in, this set is anyone's.

It’s obvious to say the fire is still there in the Murray belly. Always will be.
But the shouts of ‘Come on!’ from the Scot which greeted that last service hold geed the crowd up into a boisterous version of “Let’s go, Andy, let’s go”.
You feel a pumped-up Centre Court crowd is going to be very useful for Murray this evening.
Murray 4-3 Basilashvili*
New balls and a new tactic from Basilashvili as he charges in behind his serve to dispatch a forehand winner.
We've got the roof open and there's just one square of sunlight on the court - but sadly right where Murray is having to stand. He's got a cap on, but still could be making things a bit tricky.
Murray 4-3 Basilashvili*
He had to work hard for it, but that's a good hold from Andy Murray and there's the first sign of emotion from the home man. He screams out as we stay on serve.
We've not had a break point so far so you get the feeling one poor service game from either man could prove costly.
*Murray 3-3 Basilashvili
A fine forehand rally, with both players well behind the baseline, goes Murray's way, but a stunning backhand return from Basilashvili comes next and we're at 30-30.
That becomes deuce. Murray under pressure on his serve.

The problem in Andy Murray’s defeat against Matteo Berrettini at Queen’s recently wasn’t his movement, despite the injury troubles.
His tennis wasn’t “very good”, he said.
While his serving has been decent so far, he’s lacking the punch in his returning to hurt Basilashvili and the backhand slice has been far from firing.

I would keep the first serve percentage high and not allow Basilashvili to step in and rip the return
*Murray 3-3 Basilashvili
A slice drop shot from Murray doesn't have the legs and drops well short and Murray then gets a bit fortunate as a forehand clips the net and bounces over but it doesn't stop Basilashvili winning that game.
Earlier on we saw Jack Draper and Novak Djokovic repeatedly fall over on the slippery surface and Murray's not too happy at the moment. The last thing he needs is a slip.
