  1. Evans holdspublished at 13:48 BST 4 July 2019

    Evans 6-3 6-2 1-0 Basilashvili*

"Allez! Come on! Here we go!"

One celebratory shout just isn't enough for Dan Evans.

"It's a big point, come on!" he shouts as Basilashvili hits the ball into the net to give Evans game point.

One more "allez" as the Georgian's forehand lands long and Evans holds. Is he hoping to switch allegiances to France...? No need for commentary with Dan Evans around, anyway.

  2. Mladenovic saves three break points, holdspublished at 13:47 BST 4 July 2019

Kristina Mladenovic comes through a testing eighth game, seeing off three break-back points to keep ahead of Petra Kvitova into the business end of the opener.

    *Evans 6-3 6-2 0-0 Basilashvili

Basilashvili stares absently into the distance as he waits for Evans to get back. Wonder what he's thinking right now. Can't imagine it's too jolly inside his mind.

Evans is back and will serve first in the third set.

    Nishikori 4-4 *Norrie

Cameron Norrie saves the second of two break points from 15-40 with a superb point featuring a dinky drop-shot and a sumptuous lob.

But he is not out of the woods yet. Deuce.

  8. Game and second set Evanspublished at 13:41 BST 4 July 2019

    Evans 6-3 6-2 Basilashvili

Evans' backhand sails into the net. Set point saved.

But he has the reactions of a cat (or some other animal with quick reactions) to hit a superb forehand return and set up another set point.

Basilashvili hits a backhand wide and Evans has done it! He's two sets up!

He celebrates with a trip to the loo.

  10. Kvitova trails on Court Onepublished at 13:39 BST 4 July 2019

    *Mladenovic 4-3 Kvitova

Kristina Mladenovic - partner of Dominic Thiem in life, snubber of Andy Murray in mixed doubles - is still a break up on sixth seed Petra Kvitova in the first set of their Court One encounter.

  11. Postpublished at 13:39 BST 4 July 2019

    Evans 6-3 5-2 Basilashvili*

At the start of this year, Evans was ranked 190th in the world. Now, he's up to 61st and a win today could push him towards the top 50.

And some of the shots he's playing show how he's got there. The Brit hits a lovely backhand passing shot to get to 30-30 and a double fault from Basilashvili brings up set point.

A gutsy performance by Harriet Dart after losing that second set.

She stuck with it, she knew the plan.

It was tough for Haddad Maia with the injury, but what a moment for Harriet and her family.

  15. The waiting game...published at 13:38 BST 4 July 2019

    Jonathan Jurejko

    Alarm clock: 3:45am

    Jump in the car: 4am

    Start queuing: 6:15am

    Join another queue: 11am

    Wait and hope: 1:30pm

That is how the day has panned out so far for Helen Ruane, Nicola Guynan and Lisa Arrowsmith from Upminster in Essex.

They are among the tens sitting in the ticket resale queue and are aiming to bag Centre Court tickets to see Rafael Nadal against Nick Kyrgios - and possibly Andy Murray's return.

"People will think we're mad!" laughs Nicola.

"I'm hoping we won't have to wait until too long," adds Helen.

And they are armed with the essentials. "We've just bought these three umbrellas because we need some shade. Lots of water and food, suncream - and champagne," says Lisa.

The latter seems to be the most important in the list...

  16. Evans holdspublished at 13:37 BST 4 July 2019

    Evans 6-3 5-2 Basilashvili*

Dan Evans had won seven games in a row at one point but Georgian 18th seed Nikoloz Basilashvili stepped up the pace a bit to win a couple of games.

The Brit is getting back on top again now, though. He's just held to love and is one game away from winning the second set.

  18. Nishikori breakspublished at 13:35 BST 4 July 2019

    *Nishikori 3-4 Norrie

Well, that was deflating. Cameron Norrie handed a break by Kei Nishikori's wayward groundstrokes in the previous game, gifts it straight back with a pair of double faults and a brace of forehand errors.

The Briton is chuntering to himself as he takes his changeover seat. That was a missed opportunity to take the first set by the scruff.

    Nishikori 2-4 *Norrie

And Kei Nishikori - radar badly on the wonk in this game - bunts long over the baseline to cough up the break of serve.

Centre Court, which is gradually turning from salmon pink to lobster red in the fierce sun, enjoyed that one.

    Could Cam Norrie just possibly...?
