SIX double faults for Jay Clarke but three of those came in his first service game of the match. When he finds the target, they're almost unstoppable, but Roger Federer heaps on the pressure to make it 30-30.
Federer 6-1 5-5 Clarke*
The second seed just creaks through the gears and holds. Jay Clarke's attempts at a backward backhand on the run are unsuccessful...
Two Britons are through to the third round - Harriet Dart was first with victory over Beatriz Haddad Maia and Dan Evans followed her with a straight-set win over 18th seed Nikoloz Basilashvili.
World number one Ashleigh Barty was one of the day's first winners, beating Alison van Uytvanck, and she will now face Dart in the third round.

*Federer 6-1 4-5 Clarke
Magic! Jay Clarke flops a return just over the net with more spin and swerve than a day at Alton Towers. Roger Federer is left swiping at thin air. 30-30.
Siniakova 3-6 2-1 Konta*
This is new. Konta makes a few unforced errors - not something we've seen much of from the Brit so far - and Siniakova holds to love.
Hopefully this is not the beginning of a dip for Konta.

Tim Henman
Former British number one on BBC TV at Wimbledon
It was the start we expected with Federer on top early on.
It was vital that Jay Clarke dug his heels in and he's done a good job since.
He has to really concentrate now. Federer isn't immune to the pressure at the end of a set - and certainly when you're serving to stay in the set.
*Federer 6-1 4-5 Clarke
Right, win this game and Jay Clarke will win the second set. Easy for you to say...
Roger Federer sticks a winding forehand right on the chalk but then uncharacteristically double faults.
15-15.

*Siniakova 3-6 1-1 Konta
Konta double faults but recovers with a sublime cross-court forehand which came from a mere flick of the wrist.
Siniakova hits the ball into the net and shouts at herself. Konta hits an ace down the middle, which probably won't improve the world number 38's mood.
Siniakova's forehand goes wide and it's another hold for Konta.
*Federer 6-1 4-5 Clarke
Well, after the first set it looked like Roger Federer might just steamroll his way to the third round leaving Jay Clarke in his wake, but the young Brit is making the grass master work now. Federer tightens his headband, looking ever-so-slightly tetchy, albeit undoubtedly cool as an Alpine retreat inside.
Another good hold for Clarke.

Rename The Mound to The VolcanJo. It would erupt if she won!
Tony in London
What about Ben Nevans or Mount Kontabalu?
Anon
VolcanJo is surely the front-runner so far.
Siniakova 3-6 1-0 Konta*
Konta comes to the net and lands a passing shot perfectly on the line. Siniakova wants Hawk Eye to have a look and the line judge got it right. 30-15.
The Czech whacks an ace down the middle to hold.
Federer 6-1 4-4 Clarke*
Swift hold of serve for the eight-time Wimbledon champ, despite Jay Clarke winning a challenge and correctly calling a kicking serve out.

Federer is looking to be proactive, he's looking to be aggressive and get to the net quickly.
Jay Clarke doesn't have the biggest serve and so Federer is attempting to establish himself in the rally and take advantage of that.

Reigning women's champion Angelique Kerber looks to be going deep into this year's tournament as well. She breezes through the opening set 6-2 against American Lauren Davis.
*Siniakova 3-6 0-0 Konta
Konta's first-serve percentage is up at 80% and she's winning 80% of points when she gets that serve in. That would explain why it was such an easy first-set win.
The Brit is totally outclassing Siniakova so far, but the 23-year-old did beat former world number one Naomi Osaka last month so we shouldn't rule her out yet.

N Moore: Clarke's Climb? (That's my name for the hill, but also his plight against The ManChine right now.) Konta's Climb also kind of works, I suppose...
It works on so many levels...
*Federer 6-1 3-4 Clarke
Well-constructed serve and volley to win the point from Jay Clarke, and then a reverse backhand to leave Roger Federer rooted to the spot in no man's land. Not often you can say that. The Swiss then fires a volley long and Clarke holds.
