  1. Two break points saved by Siniakovapublished at 16:11 BST 4 July 2019

    *Siniakova 3-6 3-3 Konta

Konta gets a bit of help from the net chord and Siniakova wobbles. 15-30.

The Czech hits the ball long and it's two break points. She practically kneels down to hit a backhand winner and save the first.

Then sprints forwards to the net and catches Konta off guard, saving the second.

  2. Opening up for Nadal?published at 16:11 BST 4 July 2019

That loss for 13th seed Marin Cilic means there are only two other seeded players - 12th seed Fabio Fognini and 20th seed Gilles Simon - in the same quarter of the draw as third seed Rafael Nadal.

The Spaniard, who was unhappy at only being seeded third when he is second in the world rankings, faces unseeded and volatile Australian Nick Kyrgios later today.

  6. Konta holds againpublished at 16:08 BST 4 July 2019

    *Siniakova 3-6 3-3 Konta

Konta takes a minute before she begins her usual pre-serve ritual (three high bounces, two low bounces and serve in case you're wondering). She's not distracted, though, and hits an ace.

She finishes the game how she started it, winning with an ace down the middle.

Siniakova has decided to make this a bit easier for Konta.

Philip West: I first watched Federer at #Wimbledon, external in 2005, and I have never seen him looking as uncomfortable and as unsure of himself as he does now. This is very, very peculiar

  14. Tie-breakpublished at 16:04 BST 4 July 2019

    *Federer 6-1 6-6 (0-1) Clarke

Lovely stuff from Jay Clarke. Advantage to the young British hopeful.

  15. Keep it tightpublished at 16:04 BST 4 July 2019

    *Siniakova 3-6 2-2 Konta

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Two

Siniakova is just losing some control and she can't afford a level drop. She needs to keep the scoreline tight. It feels like she is running out of ideas tactically in how to play Konta.

  16. Tie-break time...published at 16:03 BST 4 July 2019

Seamless from the Swiss. Working Jay Clarke across the baseline like a PE teacher dishing out the bleep test. Federer holds.

    *Siniakova 3-6 2-2 Konta

Just a reminder of that first-set dominance:

  18. Konta holdspublished at 16:02 BST 4 July 2019

    *Siniakova 3-6 2-2 Konta

Is Konta losing focus a bit? All of her holds have been fairly straightforward so far but the 28-year-old hits a backhand into the net to go 15-30 down.

Konta recovers with an amazing angled backhand and Siniakova cannot return it on the run.

Another swift backhand on the baseline throws the Czech off and Konta gets the hold. It's not quite as dominant as it was, but Konta is still a set up.

    *Federer 6-1 5-6 Clarke

Roger Federer is left shaking his head. Jay Clarke hustles with some great defensive work and then the Swiss drops a backhand into the tape.

He follows it with another and Clarke is again one game away from taking the second set.
