  3. Konta breakspublished at 15:30 BST 4 July 2019

    Siniakova 1-3 Konta*

Siniakova serves an ace down the middle. Konta challenges, but it's just touching the line.

The trainer has been called apparently after the Czech's fall.

Siniakova hits a backhand into the net and Konta has her first break! If play continues like this, it will be the first of many.

  4. Clarke holdspublished at 15:29 BST 4 July 2019

    *Federer 6-1 0-1 Clarke

That's sublime. Roger Federer seamlessly opens up his body and suddenly changes the pace and direction of the rally by firing a forehand into the space.

Jay Clarke almost cleans out a line judge with a meaty serve, but his second is good and the British number four holds.

    *Siniakova 1-2 Konta

The crowd who left the court after the last match are all streaming back in now and the umpire has to ask them to quieten down. Maybe they've rehydrated during the break, getting a bit rowdy...

Konta feeds off the buzz and takes a 30-0 lead on Siniakova's serve. She hits a forehand out wide and Siniakova slips and stays down. Oh dear. That's three break points for Konta but will she get to play them?

The umpire helps Siniakova up and it looks like she's ready to continue.

    *Siniakova 1-2 Konta

Konta's dress has got a colourful patterned trim on it. Positively daring for Wimbledon. Hope she doesn't get in trouble. Maybe you can get away with it when you're British number one.

She's fully in control in this first set, hitting a forehand winner to hold to 15.

    *Federer 5-1 Clarke

A first "come on" of the match from Jay Clarke, it follows a superb return that leaves Roger Federer stranded on the run.

The Swiss reverts to hammering down a beast of a serve.

    Set point.

  14. 'Crunching the ball'published at 15:23 BST 4 July 2019

    Siniakova 1-1 Konta*

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Two

That was a good recovery in that service game. They are both absolutely crunching the ball, really clean hitting with a lot of pace and depth on it.

  15. Siniakova holdspublished at 15:22 BST 4 July 2019

    Siniakova 1-1 Konta*

Konta sends the ball high into the blue sky and that's the third break point lost.

The Brit pegs Siniakova back to deuce a few times but hits a backhand at the piece of wood holding the net up and the game is finally over.

    Promising start from JoKo though.

Oh! Great grafting from Jay Clarke, but he can't lift an attempted lob high enough to beat Roger Federer at the net.

    Break point.

    Federer 4-1 Clarke*

The second seed dishes a backhand long and Jay Clarke takes advantage on his serve. He comes wriggling towards the net on the attack, but is picked off by the grass master with a sweeping forehand.

Federer then fires a backhand winner into the space for break point, only to find a Clarke serve too hot to handle.

    Back to deuce.

    *Siniakova 0-1 Konta

Siniakova hits a forehand long and Konta has a big early opportunity at 30-0 up.

Another loose forehand and Konta has three break points.

The Czech saves the first two with big serves.

  20. 'Pretty agile'published at 15:19 BST 4 July 2019

    *Siniakova 0-1 Konta

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Two

I think Johanna is a great mover on court, she is tall but pretty agile out there. Not only is she an aggressive player with an aggressive mindset, but she has definitely improved her defensive skills.
