I'm looking forward to it. Having watched two or three of his doubles matches at Queen's you know Andy will play well but it is how he will combine with Pierre-Hugues Herbert, a great doubles player.

Rafael Nadal takes the opening point with a superb running forehand. 0-15.

Kyrgios with a lovely slipper-soft dropper and a whipped forehand moves to 30-15.

Another net volley and it is 40-15.

An ace and the game is cooked.

Where is the mojo and momentum in this one? It is like trying to pin down molten mercury. We are right at the pivot point with the match in the balance...

    Copil/Humbert v Herbert/Murray

"I'm just happy to be playing tennis again," Murray, whose last appearance at SW19 came in his 2017 quarter-final defeat by Sam Querrey, said.

"I play to win. I'm really competitive. But I didn't know four or five weeks ago if I'd even be playing over the grass so I shouldn't be expecting too much.

"But once I step on the court, I'll be out there trying to win every match I play."

This is not Murray’s first foray into doubles since his operation.

The two-time Wimbledon singles champion made his competitive return at Queen’s. You might have thought Murray was just having a go at doubles to see how his hip would hold up.

But Andy Murray doesn’t just ‘have a go’. His will to win looked just as strong as ever as he and Spain’s Feliciano Lopez won the title.

    Copil/Humbert v Herbert/Murray

In the men’s doubles today, Murray is partnering France’s Pierre-Hugues Herbert against Frenchman Ugo Humbert and Romanian Marius Copil.

Herbert is a good choice. He’s a doubles expert who has won all four Grand Slam titles in the men’s event.

He’s gone for a slightly more high-profile name in the mixed doubles – Serena Williams. You might have heard of her.

    Copil/Humbert v Herbert/Murray

When Murray broke down in tears at an Australian Open news conference in January, many thought his tennis career had come to an end.

He had a hip resurfacing operation and still it seemed the road back to the All England Club might be a bit too long.

But he’s made it and will be playing in not one, but two events.

    S Williams 2-6 6-2 6-4 Juvan

Serena Williams said after her win: "I thought she played well. She returned well, I couldn't really ace her because she was reading the returns.

"I started out a little slow. I like the pressure. I'd rather be in this position than any other. I play best when I'm down sometimes. I'm just a fighter and I never give up."

On teaming up with Andy Murray for the mixed doubles: "I'm practising every day. I played a little doubles yesterday. I'm excited to play with a British icon like Andy. It's going to be amazing. Maybe I can learn a thing or two, I'm always open."

Here we go. Everybody loves a comeback gig (e.g. when Robbie reunited with Take That in 2011 - #NeverForget) and now it’s time for Andy Murray’s big one at SW19.

The former world number one provided many people’s favourite ever Wimbledon moment when he won his first title here in 2013.

He missed last year’s tournament with a hip injury and now, one surgery later, he’s just stepped back out on Court One for the men’s doubles to a huge roar from the crowd.

The sort of thing that wouldn't get past the first stage of a Roger Federer marketing brainstorm.

Nadal to 40-15 and then incident!

Kyrgios clubs a forehand straight at Nadal as he comes to the net. It was aimed right at his ribs. The Spaniard defends himself with his racquet, loses the point and shoots daggered looks down the court.

A double fault from the rattled Rafa.
