  1. GREAT SAVE!published at 44 mins

    Incredible save!

That is why Emi Martinez was named the best goalkeeper at the World Cup.

Jack Harrison ghosts in from the left to meet a cross and volleys goalwards from a couple of yards but Martinez is there to make an incredible save.

    Outstanding.

We need a playmaker. Never replaced Pablo Hernandez. Lanzini would be my choice. Marsch = meh.

  3. CLOSE!published at 42 mins

    Aston Villa 1-0 Leeds

Superb from the new boy Alex Moreno!

Rodrigo is onto a brilliant ball by Jack Harrison, he rounds the goalkeeper and looks certain to slot in but Moreno powers back to clear off the line.

    Excellent defending.

Douglas Luiz seems lucky to get away with a booking as he clatters Pascal Struijk. A few Leeds players also express their frustration at the lack of a card for that challenge.

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville on Sky Sports: "It was a huge escape for Jesse Marsch last season, but they are in trouble again.

"There is a lot to like about them when you watch them, they are bright, but you just wonder if they are flimsy.

"They are doing a lot of things right in this game."

Every time I see Leeds play Wilfried Gnonto catches the eye. He's always looking for the ball and his first move is always to go forward. Exciting talent.

Leeds win another corner but once again the delivery isn't the best and the opportunity passes.

What exactly are Leeds learning? The players keep making the same mistakes every game that's not learning that's naive! We need a proper midfielder!

Good passing into the spaces by Leeds as they work their way forward down the left. Wilfried Gnonto feeds Brenden Aaronson, who tries to find Jack Harrison in middle of the box but Villa are first to the danger.

It was a pretty quiet night for Ollie Watkins.

The England forward had seven touches and attempted two passes, completing one (the green line).

He won a foul, which is shown by the pentagon below, with the triangle an unsuccessful dribble.

Jacob Ramsey is clattered into by Robin Koch and he is shown the game's first yellow card. The Leeds defender will have to be careful now.

Here comes that second enforced change for Aston Villa as Ollie Watkins goes off with that foot injury and he is replaced by Danny Ings.

Ollie Watkins has been clutching his foot now and then in the last few minutes and now he has sat down on the pitch.

Danny Ings is instructed to get ready to come on and it looks like Villa are going to be forced into another change here.

Andrew Priestley: How’s that not a penalty kick? Two hands on his shoulder. If that’s in the middle of the pitch, it’s a free-kick.

Good opportunity for Aston Villa as a ball over the top finds Leon Bailey in loads of space on the right. Ollie Watkins is waiting in the area but Bailey's cross has too much on it and flashes across the face of goal.

Dean Plumley: Jesse Marsch must be livid, every week he says we need to learn, stop making mistakes, concentrate and every match is the same, go behind, then chaos to get back into it, so frustrating

Leeds keep up the pressure and win another free kick, this time a bit further out on the opposite side of the box. Jack Harrison curls it in as Rodrigo breaks clear of the defence but Harrison puts too much height on it and the ball goes out for a goal kick.

Speaking to Sky Sports before the game Leeds boss Jesse Marsch said he wanted his side to play more inwards, rather than just on the wings.

That definitely hasn't been the case so far...

We are relegation fodder with Ted Lasso in charge, the board need to wake up before it's too late. Schoolboy defence coached by a schoolboy of a manger.

    Nik, Leeds

Hopefully this shambles at least puts us a step closer to getting rid of Marsch. Absolutely out of his depth and utterly uninspiring. We're on our way down with him at the helm.

The free kick is played low into the box for Rodrigo, who turns but then goes down with Douglas Luiz over him. Jack Harrison gets to the loose ball but his shot hits the post.

Really good surging run by Wilfried Gnonto and he is fouled just outside the Aston Villa box...
