The way this first leg has gone, even if Arsenal go to Germany with a one-goal deficit they will still fancy their chances, but they have to be wary of getting hit again and conceding a second.

Wolfsburg, praised before the game by Jonas Eidevall for their skill and pace at counter-attacks, so nearly hit Arsenal with a sucker punch as goalscorer Tabea Wassmuth, clean through, hits the post before seconds later ex-Arsenal midfielder Jill Roord does likewise, flicking Lena Lattwein's pass against the upright.

It's a stand up save by Manuela Zinsberger and the ball goes onto the post.

It's why Arsenal have to be switched on and not make mistakes at the back. If you don't take your chances, like Arsenal haven't, Wolfsburg can punish you.

Great skill by Beth Mead inside the box before she drills it across the face of goal. Vivianne Miedema stretches out a leg in an attempt to divert it over the line but she cannot connect.

  15. Arsenal knocking on the doorpublished at 21:11 GMT 23 March 2022

    Arsenal 0-1 Wolfsburg

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Emirates Stadium

Arsenal have made a very bright start to this second half as they push for an equaliser.

Beth Mead's pull-back from a dangerous position couldn't find a team-mate and then Stina Blackstenius almost converted from Noelle Maritz's excellent low cross but, from a tight angle, couldn't hit the target.

Blackstenius then put the ball in the net after rounding Almuth Schult but the home fans' cheers were quickly stopped by an assistant's flag for offside. We have VAR in action in the Champions League, but no need for lines to be drawn on television screens as Blackstenius was clearly offside.

  16. 'Arsenal have belief'published at 21:11 GMT 23 March 2022

    Arsenal 0-1 Wolfsburg

    Kelly Smith
Former England and Arsenal striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Arsenal have started the second half extremely well, on the front foot. They are pressing Wolfsburg higher up the pitch and we have had that disallowed goal. They have a belief about them now.

  17. Postpublished at 51 mins

    Arsenal 0-1 Wolfsburg

Arsenal are really piling on the pressure. One disallowed goal and two chances inside the opening few minutes of the second half. They've just won a corner which was taken quickly but came to nothing.

    Big chance!

Stina Blackstenius cannot get her angles out as her first time attempt is sliced wide after being picked out by Noelle Maritz.

Encouraging start by Arsenal. They're throwing everything at this.

  20. Postpublished at 46 mins

    Arsenal 0-1 Wolfsburg

No changes by either side. Arsenal need to speed it up and inside the opening minute of the new half Beth Mead finds space inside the box and tries to pick out a team-mate but it's blocked.
