Kevin de Bruyne has a pop from range again. This time he sends his shot high over the bar.

The home fans are cheering every pass from their side now. They're behind but still very much enjoying themselves.

And here is why you don't give City any space around the box.
Kevin de Bruyne fires a low shot from the edge that has the Bees keeper beat but strikes the base of the post.

I'm not sure you could describe this Brentford performance as 'having a go'. It is smart as they are sitting deep and keeping space near their own box to a minimum, while looking to break at pace. They've done an awful lot of defending so far.
What it is not, though, is a 'sit back and hope City have an off day' type display which you do see sides adopt.

Why don't more teams have a go at Man City like Brentford are tonight? Too many teams sit back with a low block and almost accept a one or two nil defeat for fear of copping a hiding.

Brentford remain in the fight. They fire a free-kick from deep to the far side of the box where it is met by Ethan Pinnock but then headed away by a City head.

For a second it looks like Yoane Wissa might have a chance to run into the City half and threaten Ederson, but in a flash the visiting defence rallies and whips the ball away from him.
Yes, they all cost loads, but you have to credit that work rate off the ball.

Unfortunately that is just Chelsea right now. We've lost that clinical touch, and once again have thrown away points that looked improbable. I'm more worried about top four than the title right now, as our form is midtable at the moment.
Chris, Petts Wood East
Brilliant game at Chelsea. Competitive and exciting. The exact opposite of 95% of Man City games.

Grealish has gone left and Foden has gone into that false nine, it suits him a lot better. He can drop back into midfield and can dart in behind and nobody is picking him up. It's a smart move and a good tactical shift for City.

RJ: The problem with armchair fans is they are so quick to judge. Writing Grealish off. Let's not forget they labelled Cancelo a flop and also wrote off Mahrez, Silva and Fernandinho to name a few.

City continue to boss possession at Brentford. The home fans are roaring their team into action, though. It helps as the Bees push the visitors back into their own half.
The home side are still in this. As Brighton have shown, if you stick in you can get rewards against the big lads.
FT: Chelsea 1-1 Brighton
Danny Welbeck's goal against Chelsea comes 11 years after his first Premier League goal against the Blues, for Sunderland in a 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge on 14 November 2010.
It is also the first Brighton have scored in the Premier League at Chelsea, in eight visits.
Timely.

Bob Moss: Well deserved for Brighton against this overrated Chelsea team. Title contenders, yeh right.
Nathan: That cross from Cucurella was an absolute peach. Begging to be headed home.
Brightonian: Outplayed Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. That equaliser is completely DESERVED.

The final whistle blows. Albion players and fans punch the air.
The Chelsea players have their hands on their heads. This is a big blow for the Blues.
What a cameo from Danny Welbeck.

It almost gets better for City as Phil Foden sticks the ball in the net. The flag is up, though, he moved too soon that time to latch on to Joao Cancelo's low ball into the mixer.
Chelsea 1-1 Brighton
And just like that, the title race swings even more in Manchester City's favour.
