It didn't take long for VAR to check it. A lot of credit has to go to Foden. De Bruyne put a lovely ball in and Foden tapped it in, but it's against the run of play you'd have to say.

  3. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:35 GMT 29 December 2021

    Chelsea 1-0 Brighton

And we are back under way at the Bridge.

Trevoh Chalobah is on for Andreas Christensen, who struggled through the first-half after an injury.

Penny for Harry Kane's thoughts after that Phil Foden goal.

  5. Postpublished at 20:34 GMT 29 December 2021

    Brentford 0-1 Man City

Just shows that class City have in bundles.

They're feeling the heat a bit, but in a flash they turn the tables and lead.

No wonder Thomas Frank goes mad on the bench after the goal. His side switched off.

  6. Postpublished at 20:33 GMT 29 December 2021

    Brentford 0-1 Man City

He is not. The goal stands. It was close. Very close. But Foden is just on and his lovely, first-time finish is the opener.

More credit goes to De Bruyne, though, for a glorious assist.

  7. VAR

VAR are going to look at Phil Foden's finish from Kevn de Bruyne's brilliant, whipped pass into the box. Is the England player offside?

You can hear the crowd and Brentford have made City really uncomfortable. Ederson has had to make a really good save. The pressure is really building on City.

    Brentford 0-0 Man City

    Brentford are all over City!

A cross from the left hits Ruben Dias and needs a smart save from Ederson to push it behind. From the corner, the Bees go even closer with a ball that needs to be headed off the line by Joao Cancelo.

    Ambitious.

Mathias Jensen goes for goal from the halfway line after seeing Ederson off the his line. His effort floats just wide.

    Brentford finding their feet.

Katvik: There are a couple of rather average performers in the Chelsea team in the first half. Pulisic, Mount, Odoi, Kovacic and now Alonso is also on the pitch...Brighton played better, in particular in the last 20 minutes.

    But wait...

Brentford break and Frank Onyeka is able to drive forward down the left before firing a low shot that Ederson saves.

Lewis Chapman Performance Analyst: It's madness that a player can win the ball cleanly, unfairly gets a yellow and people still call him a "lucky boy". Rudiger's tackle was a good one because he made no contact with Lamptey, may as well just make it a rule that you have to stay on your feet these days.

  17. Postpublished at 20:23 GMT 29 December 2021

    Brentford 0-0 Man City

I've not seen a Brentford player have a controlled touch yet. Play is entirely in the home half. A chipped cross for Phil Foden at the back stick floats out of play.
