    Leicester 0-0 Liverpool

    Andy Reid
Ex-Republic of Ireland midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It’s domination at the minute from Liverpool. Leicester can’t get out of their own half. When they do get the ball, they’re very sloppy with it.

It’s backs to the wall – probably as we expected.

Why the delayed offside flags still? What is the purpose of this, can anyone explain?

Judith: John Duncan (19.37) makes an excellent point. A five setter can last 5 hours and if you take away the 90 minutes for breaks in between games they are still mobile for 3 1/2 hours. Fit guys.

    Leicester v Liverpool (20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

More from Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on needing perfection in the title race: "We knew that before. Especially with Manchester City around. We are not really in this fight. We are just trying to connect our points.

"There will be a decisive moment in the season but we just want to make sure we are in a position then."

If two games in a few days is too many, managers have the option to select a completely different team. All clubs have loads of players at various levels.

    Daniel

I personally wouldn't mind a less packed festive schedule - fewer games, better quality - but I do get sick of the moaning about it every year. Footballers who aren't content to get paid tens or hundreds of thousands a week to play a lot of football are welcome to try something else.

  17. 'We cannot let him pass... or shoot'published at 19:48 GMT 28 December 2021

    Leicester v Liverpool (20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to Amazon Prime on break on Boxing day: "Massive one because we could train. Five days between days for us is strange to be honest! It was a unique situation so hopefully we used the time well to prepare for this game.

"Curtis Jones is back in aswell. Thiago was in training for one day. The next day he felt a bit so we had to leave him at home.

"I thought Leicester took the second half against Manchester City and were in a good moment. You can see it is a really strong side tonight. It looks like a diamond again.

"James Maddison in a really good shape. They caused us problems in our last game in this formation so hopefully we learn from it. [Kelechi] Iheanacho and [Jamie] Vardy play incredible stuff together but Maddison is obviously the connector between different compartments. We should not let him pass... or shoot!"

  18. 'Consistency is right up there'published at 19:45 GMT 28 December 2021

    Leicester v Liverpool (20:00 GMT)

    Leicester City

More from Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers on why Youri Tielemans is on the bench: "The games... You really need that energy in midfield. We only played on Sunday."

On James Maddison's form: "His consistency is right up there now. He's been a top talent but to be a top player you have to be consistent. He has been scoring goals and pressing well which elevates his attacking qualities to another level."

  19. 'Can't give away silly goals'published at 19:42 GMT 28 December 2021

    Leicester v Liverpool (20:00 GMT)

    Leicester City

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers to Amazon Prime: "You look to write your own story and off the back of a tough game it's a huge challenge. We're at home so we'll give it our best.

"From a defensive perspective we have to be really strong. You know you will suffer against Liverpool. They are a top team with lots of quality but we have shown we can cause teams problems.

"You can't give away silly goals. If you can do that, stay strong and play with energy, you know you can score."

  20. End the year on a high?published at 19:39 GMT 28 December 2021

    Leicester v Liverpool (20:00 GMT)

Leicester have conceded 63 goals in 39 Premier League games in 2021.

It's the third-most they've ever let in during the same calendar year in the competition, after 66 in 2001 and 64 in 2017.

The Foxes have lost their final league game in just two of the last 10 calendar years, although one of those defeats came against Liverpool in 2017.
