  1. Charlton improvingpublished at 21:05

    Swansea 1-0 Charlton

    Gareth Vincent
BBC Sport Wales at the Liberty Stadium

The feeling was that Charlton had to get better in this second half after their sorry performance in the first period, and Lee Bowyer's youthful side have done just that.

Bowyer looks to have changed the shape of his team, which now looks more like 4-2-3-1 than 4-4-2.

The tweak is making life harder for Swansea, who have just suffered a blow with Mike van der Hoorn - who only returned from injury tonight - forced off after a spell of treatment.

  2. SUBSTITUTION (Swansea)published at 21:04 GMT 2 January 2020

    Swansea 1-0 Charlton

Mike van der Hoorn takes a knock on his return from injury and is replaced by Ben Wilmot.

  3. Postpublished at 21:03 GMT 2 January 2020

Two outstanding balls from Rooney. Too goals for Derby. The 34-year-old is having a good debut so far.

Charlton's Darren Pratley is shown the yellow card for a bad foul against his former team.

    Martyn Waghorn (57 mins)

Derby are back in front and Wayne Rooney plays a part in the goal again - he spreads the play from left to right with a sumptuous long ball for Andre Wisdom, who then beats his marker and gets a low cross in to the box for Martyn Waghorn to sweep in to the far corner.

It's a clinical finish from Waghorn and his eighth goal of the campaign.

    Swansea 1-0 Charlton

Swansea have hardly touched the ball in the first five minutes after the break. Is the momentum shifting after a half-time pep-talk?

Alfie Doughty, a half-time substitute, had a great chance to equalise, but couldn't find the target. But that's a warning for Swansea.

  7. SUBSTITUTION (Barnsley)published at 20:56 GMT 2 January 2020

    Derby 1-1 Barnsley

Patrick Schmidt is coming off for the visitors, with Jacob Brown coming on. Can they turn this game on its head?

  8. Postpublished at 20:55 GMT 2 January 2020

    Derby 1-1 Barnsley

At the other end, Wayne Rooney completely miscues a header from a few yards out and it dribbles wide. It was his first attempt on goal as a Derby player and a really good chance.

This game could get really lively now.

    Elliot Simoes (50 mins)

Out of nothing, Barnsley are back on level terms and Derby keeper Ben Hamer won't want to see this again...

From Jordan Williams' cross, Conor Chaplin's initial shot is saved by Hamer but he only spills it straight to substitute Elliot Simoes, who could hardly miss and tucks in the leveller on the rebound.

    Game on.

  11. HITS THE POST!published at 20:51 GMT 2 January 2020

    Derby 1-0 Barnsley

Derby almost double their lead immediately as Matt Clarke's header from a corner is superbly tipped on to the post by Barnsley keeper Samuel Sahin-Radlinger and it bounces clear.

    That's an absolutely fantastic save.

Whatever happens at the Liberty Stadium tonight, this will go down as a memorable day in the history of Charlton Athletic.

That is because news came earlier today that the takeover of the Addicks by East Street Investments had been completed.

Will Steve Cooper be reunited with Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster this month?

The Swansea City boss worked with Brewster when he was England Under-17 coach, and now he wants to bring him to Wales.

Swansea are searching for a forward after Sam Surridge was recalled by Bournemouth yesterday.

    Swansea 1-0 Charlton

Yan Dhanda's sweet strike is all Swansea have to show for a dominant opening period. As things stand they'll be in the Championship play-off zone at the end of this game against a Charlton team struggling for inspiration.

  18. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:34 GMT 2 January 2020

    Derby 1-0 Barnsley

There's the half-time whistle at Pride Park, where the home fans are singing Wayne Rooney's name after the part he played in that much-needed opener for the hosts.

  19. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:34 GMT 2 January 2020

    Swansea 1-0 Charlton

Charlton's Jason Pearce steams into a tackle on George Byers and is perhaps lucky to still be on the field as his victim is treated, then hobbles off with half-time not far away. No substitution as yet...

  20. goal

GOAL Derby 1-0 Barnsleypublished at 20:31 GMT 2 January 2020

    Jack Marriott (45 mins)

Derby take the lead in the final minute of the first half and you'll never guess who gets the assist...

Wayne Rooney's in-swinging cross from the free-kick from the left is absolutely magnificent and it's just begging to be poked home by someone.

And it is turned in by Jack Marriott, who shins in the opening goal in to the bottom corner.

Marriott will be relieved, after his earlier misses... But it's all about the cross from Rooney on his debut. Class.
