  1. MISSED PENALTYpublished at 15:05 BST 19 October 2019

    Motherwell 0-0 Aberdeen

Motherwell have a superb opportunity to open the scoring at Fir Park after Joe Lewis brings Christopher Long down in the box. But James Scott steps up to the spot and his shot is... saved by the left arm of the Aberdeen goalkeeper.

    Mohamed Elyounoussi

Mohamed Elyounoussi scores in the opening few minutes at Celtic Park - he gets the break of the ball before whipping a right-footer past County goalkeeper Ross Laidlaw.

Some slick build-up beginning with 18-year-old league debutant Jeremie Frimpong at right-back, it falls kindly to Elyounoussi but the Southampton loanee took it clinically.

Very interesting to see how this new-look Aberdeen side will fare here at Fir Park. No natural midfielders for the Dons, who look like they’ll go with a 3-5-2 formation, with McKenna, Devlin and Considine at the back, a midfield five of Logan, Gallacher, Vyner, McGinn and Leigh, with James Wilson and Sam Cosgrove up front. No-one has a better recent league record than Motherwell, who’ve matched Rangers’ run of five wins from their last six. Are Motherwell the ‘third force’ behind the big Glasgow two? There’s nothing Aberdeen would like more, despite their enforced re-shuffle, to put a spanner in those works

They keep defying the odds, so full credit to Hamilton. They stay in this division and that's success. The standards are higher for Hibs, though, and they need the three points, but this will not be an easy game as you never know what you're going to get from Hamilton

  8. Celtic hot after the breakpublished at 14:58 BST 19 October 2019

    Celtic v Ross County (15:00)

The task facing County today is highlighted by the two sides' respective scoring records.

Neil Lennon's side have scored 12 times in the second halves of their league games this season - two more than the visitors have in all their matches.

St Mirren v St Johnstone (15:00)

St Mirren have scored just three league goals this season, shared across three different players, the fewest in the Premiership.

Indeed, they have found the net with just 3.6% of their goal attempts in the competition - three out of 84!

    Kilmarnock v Livingston (15:00)

Livingston's success in avoiding relegation on their return to the Premiership last season was often put down to their prowess at attacking set-pieces.

Strangely, they have this season conceded 55% of their league goals this season from set-pieces - more than any other team in the Premiership.

You'd think Motherwell would miss David Turnbull, but Liam Polworth coming in from Inverness has been a brilliant signing. He plays advanced, he sees a pass and he's comfortable on the ball

  12. Trend favours Hibspublished at 14:53 BST 19 October 2019

    Hamilton Academical v Hibernian (15:00)

Hamilton have only won one of their last seven games, yet Hibs still find themselves two points behind today's hosts.

Paul Heckingbottom's side have failed to win any of their four away league games this season. Indeed, they have not won over 90 minutes in their last nine outings - League Cup wins over Greenock Morton, after extra time, and Kilmarnock, on penalties, being the only trend breakers.

However, a 1-1 draw away to Aberdeen last time out will have given Hibs some heart and they are unbeaten in their last three visits to Hamilton.

Indeed, they have won their last four meetings with Accies, all three last season without losing a goal, and are unbeaten in five.

  13. 'We have to take the game to Aberdeen'published at 14:52 BST 19 October 2019

    Motherwell v Aberdeen (15:00)

Aberdeen fans may be concerned about notable holes in today's side, but Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson is adamant that his opponents have plenty to hurt their hosts with today.

"We've started well," he tells BBC Scotland. "Aberdeen are still putting out a very experienced side. If you look at their three centre halves, if you look at their two centre forwards, their wing-backs are very good.

"Believe me, they've got a very strong side out today. a very physical and huge side. It will be a test for us at set plays and longer balls up the pitch.

"So we have to concentrate on our game and dictate the tempo of play our way and take the game to Aberdeen."

Motherwell are playing the type of football that's easy on the eye and it's producing results. They have exciting young players in Scott and Campbell and a solid defence, with Gallagher getting international recognition. No game time for Gallagher with Scotland, though, so can Devlin show today why he started both games?

  15. Lennon quibbles with Gerrard league talkpublished at 14:49 BST 19 October 2019

    Celtic v Ross County (15:00)

    Alasdair Lamont
BBC Sport Scotland at Celtic Park

Neil Lennon bristled slightly when I put to him Steven Gerrard’s comment that Rangers deserve to be top of the league. But he admits one point from the last six is not good enough. Stuart Kettlewell spoke about the need for his players to be brave on the ball if they’re to emerge from Glasgow with anything positive. Tough task but an intriguing contest in prospect.

  16. Wright not feeling the pressurepublished at 14:48 BST 19 October 2019

St Mirren v St Johnstone (15:00)

Despite a winless start to the season so far leaving his side at the foot of the table, St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright is not feeling the pressure.

"I never see the point. Simple philosophy, as long as I wake up in the morning, I'll be alright," he tells Sportsound.

On a more serious note, Wright adds: "We have to get that first win and, if it comes today, we get off the bottom of the table. We've put ourselves in a position where we're about four or five points short of where we should be in terms of how we've played.

"St Mirren a difficult side to beat and it'll be a tough game."

  17. Going Wellpublished at 14:47 BST 19 October 2019

    Motherwell v Aberdeen (15:00)

Motherwell could go seven points clear of visitors Aberdeen if Stephen Robinson's side continue their fine early season form - and statistics weigh heavily in their favour.

The hosts have won five of their last six games, while the Dons have failed to win in their last three outings.

Indeed, Motherwell, along with Rangers, have picked up more points - 15 - than any team over the last six games.

Third-top Falkirk are four games unbeaten as they host Peterhead, who have not won in the same interval, and Airdrieonians are looking for their first home win in four games as they face Montrose, who have won twice since six consecutive defeats.

Stranraer have dropped to the foot of the table after six games without a win are away to a Dumbarton side who have won their last three meetings.

  19. 'We feel we have a strong team'published at 14:45 BST 19 October 2019

    Motherwell v Aberdeen (15:00)

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has explained that suspension and inexperience was behind most of his changes prior to today's clash with Motherwell.

"We have two suspensions from the last game," he says. "Ryan Hedges has had a little knock and passed a fitness test to go on the bench, but I think his time will be limited.

"I've left the two young lads out - Ethan Ross and Dean Campbell. Campbell has had three games in six days for the Scotland Uunder-19s and I also feel like we have to look after him. He's been part of the last four starts and we have to be sure we dip him in and out of the team at the right times."

    Scottish Championship

The top two in the Championship visit sides who will have started the season with promotion hopes but who find themselves struggling at the other end of the table.

Leaders Dundee United are away to Queen of the South having won there in their last two visits, while Ayr United, second on goal difference, look to bounce back from their home defeat by Inverness Caledonian Thistle as they face Dunfermline Athletic.

While the Pars have gone three games without defeat, Ayr are unbeaten in their last four visits to East End Park.

Third-top Caley Thistle will hope to take advantage of any slip-ups as they host Alloa Athletic a week after beating the same side at the same venue 3-0 in the Challenge Cup.

Bottom side Partick Thistle are away to Dundee, while Arbroath look to end a run of four straight defeats as they host Greenock Morton, who have won the last five meetings between the sides.
