    Rangers 0-1 Aberdeen

Here's a statistical nugget from Sportsound commentator Liam McLeod:

Aberdeen have never beaten Rangers three times in the one season.

Is tonight the night for Derek McInnes' Dons?

    They've made a blistering start.

  2. GREAT SAVE!published at 19:53 GMT 12 March 2019

    Hearts 0-0 Partick Thistle

There's early action at Tynecastle too.

Ben Garuccio's free-kick is destined for the top corner until Jags keeper Conor Hazard makes a superb flying save to tip it wide for a corner. Strong start from Hearts.

  3. 'Such a composed finish'published at 19:53 GMT 12 March 2019

    Rangers 0-1 Aberdeen

    Neil McCann
Former Rangers winger on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

Sometimes when a chance comes to you early on, you lash at it. It was such a composed finish from McGinn, opened up his left foot and side-footed it past McGregor.

  4. 'It's a gift' for McGinnpublished at 19:52 GMT 12 March 2019

    Rangers 0-1 Aberdeen

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Radio Scotland

It's dreadful defending. It's a gift. When McGinn gets it, he's cool and calm, gets the ball under control and slots it past McGregor.

What a start! A slack pass from Glen Kamara rolls into the path of the gleeful Niall McGinn on the edge of the Rangers box.

The Northern Irishman gallops into the area and drives low beyond Allan McGregor.

A stunning opening for the Dons in Glasgow after just three minutes.

  6. Aberdeen will be 'difficult' to beatpublished at 19:47 GMT 12 March 2019

    Rangers 0-0 Aberdeen

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Radio Scotland

Aberdeen have won or drawn their last eight away fixtures and Dons great Willie Miller believes McInnes' men will be a tough nut for Rangers to crack tonight.

    Quote Message

I think Aberdeen are going down to Ibrox with confidence. Recent history says they can do it and their away form has been very good. I think McInnes will keep it tight. They are a well-drilled unit, very good defensively and they’ll be a very difficult team to beat tonight.

  8. Caldow remembered at Ibroxpublished at 19:46 GMT 12 March 2019

    Rangers v Aberdeen (19:45)

Before play begins, there's a minute's silence at Ibrox to remember the great former Rangers and Scotland defender Eric Caldow, who died earlier this month at the age of 84.

Caldow made 407 appearances during a 13-year career at Ibrox, winning five league titles, two Scottish Cups and three Scottish League Cups.

Comfortable on either flank, Caldow won 40 Scotland caps and captained the national team on 14 occasions.

  10. Can Morelos make the difference?published at 19:42 GMT 12 March 2019

    Rangers v Aberdeen (19:45)

Alfredo Morelos has been rewarded for his outstanding Rangers form with a call-up to the Colombia squad this week.

The striker's rattled in 28 goals in all competitions this term and is the Scottish Premiership's top scorer.

With his piston-thighs and backside like the stern of an ocean liner, he's a complete nightmare for defenders to handle.

Morelos' disciplinary record is as well-documented as his goal-scoring exploits. He has been sent off three times in this fixture - albeit one of those reds was later rescinded - and was booked for diving at Pittodrie last time out.

What will Rangers' fulcrum deliver tonight? Whatever happens, it's unlikely to be dull.

  11. Aberdeen's glory in Glasgowpublished at 19:41 GMT 12 March 2019

    Rangers v Aberdeen (19:45)

Aberdeen have won both matches against Rangers in Glasgow this season, winning in the league at Ibrox and the League Cup semi-final at Hampden.

In fact, Derek McInnes' men are the only visiting team to triumph at Ibrox this season.

They haven't fared so well against Celtic, losing twice in Glasgow, but earned a goalless draw against the cup holders on Saturday.

  12. McInnes wants Aberdeen to step uppublished at 19:41 GMT 12 March 2019

    Rangers v Aberdeen (19:45)

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes is missing Sam Cosgrove and Gary Mackay-Steven tonight, but says it's time for other players to step up.

"We always seem to be going into a lot of key games without important players, but we’ve found ways before and we need to try and find a way again," he said.

"You have a squad for a reason and it’s up to others now to come in and show their worth.

"There’s always a pressure and a demand on us to win cups and get to cup finals and I think Rangers will see it the same way. Both clubs will have the same pressure to get into the semi-final.

"Our best chance of silverware is the Scottish Cup. Regardless of what happens we still feel there’s plenty in our season. It would be great getting on the coach knowing we’ve a semi- final to look forward to."

  13. Tears, pelters and 'torture' at Grimsbypublished at 19:36 GMT 12 March 2019

Heart of Midlothian v Partick Thistle (19:45)

"If you've ever been to Grimsby you'll understand why I wanted to come back up the road."

Tears, "pelters" and a torturous time in England's lower leagues feature in this interview with Partick Thistle's Gary Harkins.

Something of a cult hero at various clubs, the maverick midfielder shares some good tales with Jonathan Sutherland.

  14. 'You don't count your second places'published at 19:33 GMT 12 March 2019

    Rangers v Aberdeen (19:45)

In the era of the ultra-media-trained player and the dull press conference, this was a refreshingly honest answer from Aberdeen goalkeeper Joe Lewis.

The towering Englishman joined the club in 2016 but hasn't yet tasted silverware at Pittodrie.

Derek McInnes has led Aberdeen to second place in the Premiership four years running and reached three cup finals in that time, but it's now five years since their Scottish League Cup win.

"Coming second and we've had decent seasons, decent achievements, but actually winning a trophy is what matters and what you're remembered for," Lewis said.

"When you look back on your career at the end of it, you don't count your second places - you count your trophies, your medals and the games you've won."

  16. Caldwell wants 'composure' in Thistle rankspublished at 19:30 GMT 12 March 2019

Heart of Midlothian v Partick Thistle (19:45)

Partick Thistle manager Gary Caldwell insists his team "believe we can win here".

"There's been a level of confidence in this team since January," he added.

"In the first game (against Hearts) we were very good defensively for half an hour, and then for the last hour we played very well with the ball as well.

"I've stressed to the players we need to do that from minute one and try to have the composure to get the ball down and pass. If we do that we can cause Hearts problems."

  17. Levein adds 'pace' to Hearts XIpublished at 19:26 GMT 12 March 2019

Heart of Midlothian v Partick Thistle (19:45)

Hearts manager Craig Levein tells BBC Radio Scotland a "big week" featuring three fixtures has influenced tonight's selection.

"I’ve brought some fresh legs into the team and also given a couple of players who will be involved at the weekend a chance to recover," he said.

"We started this last tie well enough, we had loads of opportunities. I’d like to do that again but just take them this time.

"We’ve put a little more pace in the team. Obviously we've Uche Ikpeazu’s strength and pace as well."

  18. Here come Rangers...published at 19:22 GMT 12 March 2019

    Rangers v Aberdeen (19:45)

This is a night of immense importance for Steven Gerrard and his players.

Rangers trail Celtic by eight points at the Premiership summit with eight games remaining, so the Scottish Cup represents their best chance of silverware this season.

The rain is lashing down on a blustery night Govan, but expect Ibrox to be packed and raucous for the visit of Aberdeen.

  19. Hearts on the hunt for a second semi-finalpublished at 19:18 GMT 12 March 2019

Heart of Midlothian v Partick Thistle (19:45)

As one of the country's heavyweight clubs with an expectant fan base, cup success is important to Hearts.

They can reach their second semi-final of the season with victory tonight - the first time they've managed that feat since 2005.

Celtic eased Craig Levein's men aside in the League Cup semi-final back in October, but second-tier Inverness are a much less daunting proposition if they can get past Thistle.

  20. Big Sam suspended - can May step up?published at 19:17 GMT 12 March 2019

    Rangers v Aberdeen (19:45)

Sam Cosgrove leaves a colossal gap - literally - in the Aberdeen attack.

The 6ft 3in striker has scored 18 goals this season, three of them against Rangers, but is suspended tonight.

That leaves Derek McInnes choosing Stevie May to spearhead his forward line. The shaggy-haired striker has only scored three goals this term, two of them from the penalty spot.
