Sadio Mane's only eight yards out and because he had his back to goal he kind of snatched at it. But it was onside and it was the game's best chance so far.

Corner to Bayern as talented youngsters Kingsley Coman and Trent Alexander-Arnold have a good old battle down Bayern's left/Liverpool's right.

Sadio Mane misses a big chance for Liverpool. Naby Keita has a shot from the edge of the box, it's blocked by Niklas Sule on the arm - although the defender knew nothing about it.

The ball finds its way into Mane, unmarked in the box, and he swivels and shoots wide.

Remember we have VAR in the Champions League now so they'll have had a little look at the Sule incident to make sure it isn't a penalty.

Robert Lewandowski has only had eight touches of the ball in 30 minutes.

Georginio Wijnaldum shows a great engine to run 50 yards and feed Andy Robertson but the Scot's cross is overhit and goes out for a throw-in. He holds his hands up to apologise.

Liverpool's press is as persistent as the drizzle at Anfield tonight, but Bayern are probably having the better of things whenever they manage to get the ball into midfield.

Liverpool’s fans are still making lots of noise, but a big part of that is their whistling whenever Bayern are in possession. They are trying to urge their side forward, but that side of things is not really working out for them at the moment.

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has now gone over 24 hours of playing time without scoring or setting up an away Champions League goal.

Liverpool need to miss out the press and try to get the ball in to midfield, to get the ball moving forward, because at the moment Bayern Munich have had it easy in there.

Bayern Munich defender Joshua Kimmich brings down Sadio Mane and gets booked. That means he will miss the second leg.

He was the only Bayern player one booking off a ban. Andy Robertson is the only one for Liverpool.

Fabinho's header back gives the ball to Robert Lewandowski but luckily for the makeshift Liverpool defender, his team-mates bail him out.

Gee Em: it seems Bayern know what to do. They are fouling and holding Gini at every break forward. Stopping him playing anything or getting a move forward fast.

Jane: Alisson is no better than the previous two, he just usually has VvD in front of him.

Free-kick to Liverpool on the left wing. Trent Alexander-Arnold to take. It's headed up into the air by Sadio Mane. Bayern make a hash of clearing it and TAA sends a cross into Mohamed Salah at the back post but the Egyptian heads wide.

Both goalkeepers are not comfortable at the moment. They're getting pressed and getting forced to play the ball where they don't want to play it. They're having to try a bit of skill.

Liverpool aren't looking too solid at the back, definitely missing VVD. Only a bad first touch from Serge Gnabry denies the Bayern forward a chance.
